Description
Inspiration: [link]Day(left): Silk, pearl buttons and lace detail.
Night(right): Taffeta, pearl detail.
The Malwiya Minaret was my inspiration; it's simple and elegant structure I thought would lend itself well to the challenge. I represented the spiralling staircase in the day wear with the pants, which are straight-legged, but scrunched and pooled at the ankle for the flowing effect.
The dress has a similar form, taffeta draped to flow at an angle similar to the Minaret's. The top is folded into petal shapes, and the straps are twisted fabric. The straps become pearl strands on the back.
I'm still not totally satisfied with the fabric choice for the slacks, but I just couldn't figure out what would work.

I love the low cut shirt actually, low cut is sexy, and while it's tied together in the neck...because it is right? I think it would work without being too revealing. Te pants are lovely and look comfy at the same time. Shoes are to die for. XD
The dress is wonderful, but I feel like it's missing something, i don't think i can help you tell you what it is, but it's something. The pearls on the straps are a wonderful touch to the outfit. Overall it's a beautiful dress that would make any girl (like me) jaleous.
Good job, and good luck!

Thanks very much! I'm glad you like the look of the shirt; it's a fine line between edgy and fashionable versus distasteful, and I'm glad I seemed to have hit the mark.
Yes, something seems a bit lacking in the dress, and it's been pointed out several times. I do agree, but can't figure out what to do about it. Ah well, too late at this point.
Thanks again for the lovely comment!

totally hot. I would wear both of these. Except maybe not the lowcut shirt with the suit.... see I like the idea of that cuz it's you know adding edgyness to the outfit and I think I like it but realistically it's awfully lowcut. Bah. As if fashion is realistic.
Anyhow, I love love love the spirally idea for both pants and dress. It communicates the architecture uber well and would look so flattering and flow gorgeously!! And the suit is impeccable, love that colar, love where the waist is, the shoulders, those long pockets, the perfect shoes... Great outfit! It's very nice to me because it's totally classic (what's more classic than a shirt and pants?) but so innovative. AWE'd.
I would help you with the fabric but I don't know anything about it...
The dress is very classy, and again love the spirals and love the color (i feel like it's a weird sort of old school color that you don't really see but I can imagine being uber flattering, esp on pale people like you've done it) and the twisted fabric (a la Romney, right?) that turn into pearls are a beautiful subtle touch but I feel like it could use a bit more excitement. A more dramatic draping? I don't know.
I'm seriously really really in love with it. A lot. Truly Truly, classy and i want.

Jenny I love you and your amazing long comments. <3333333333
Yeah, the low-cut probably wouldn't work very practically on anyone without a figure like the model who would wear it on the runway, but I like the look of those plunging necklines. XDD I'm very impractical. SCREW THE PUBLIC.
Yeah, the fabric was a problem. :/ I just ended up choosing silk because it seems like a fairly safe bet.
Yeah, I couldn't figure out what else to do with the dress. The image in my head is a little sleeker, but I felt like I couldn't really streamline it more without taking out the effect of the folds and flowing fabric.
BUT THANK YOU ILU HARDCORE.
