First off, congrats on the DD!!! This truly deserves one. Buuuuut I do have a question...WHAT is this guy skating on to make that big of a shadow? It makes me think it's one of those loopty things that I've seen Tony Hawk and Bam Margera do.... Oh I wish I was cool and knew a skate term other than "ollie" haha. Anyway, you probably have a gagillion posts to respond to, so if my question doesn't get answered well then.... *jumps off cliff* no, really, if you have the time and kindness, I'm really interested as to what this is that he is skating on! Thanks a bunch in advance (if you respond... if not then )

hahah, yea definatley lots to read. It's crazy. Ummmm, he's skating whats called a fullpipe. Basically this big cement tube in a new skatepark they just built in Vancouver. The shadows are from other high transitions in the park. Hope that explains it.

It took me FOREVER to see the woman's face in it that some other people mentioned. It kept being the daily deviation on the side of whatever else I looked at, so I'd see it out of the corner of my eye, and then I'd look directly at it and just see a skater. Or the swan. But anyway, great shot.

Nice to see a skateboarding picture as a daily deviation, seeing as how it doesn't seem to happen a whole lot. Great shot!

At first, I saw a woman's face...then saw the swan after using my squinting abilities.
When you look at it up close, it almost brings about a feel of disorientation.
Nice job on this one, keep up the good work.

wow! I love this! It combines two things I love: Skateboarding and photography, and the lighting is soo dramatic! This picture is simple, but I absolutely love it!

It's not often that I don't have words for something. Usually my comments on deviations are really long-winded and kind of annoying. But I really can't think of much to say for this other than that it's amazing. I've never seen a photo like this. In the thumbnail I actually thought it was a drawing of an eye and part of a face, which from comments, I can see that many others saw the same thing, but to find that it's actually a photo makes it feel like there's that much more value in this as art.
There's something about the image that feels like it should be in motion but it's frozen.... you don't see things like that holding still. You made the skateboarder look like he's not moving, when he clearly has to be.
Sorry I can't really figure out a better way to explain why I like it, but I can tell you that I definitely do. Brilliant photo.

i was trying to wrok out where the light was coming from to give the shadow that it does. If the light was coming from the right hand side, i thought, surely the skater's sleeve would show up? but from another side, the shadow wouldn't be pointing the way it is, am i missing something blindingly obvoius? Or is it manipulated? Either way, i really enjoyed this peice and think it very much deserves a DDF
