Interesting, very interesting and informative.
I had a look at this and the videos on youtube - both images seem to start with a vector that's already had quite a bit of work. Do you do it from scratch as vectors, or do you do a preliminary piece in a bitmap program and convert it to vectors? If the latter, do you do it all by hand, or do you let illustrator trace it, then tweak that? Do you have any of these preliminary images for works that you have posted.
Sorry, lots of questions and I know this is an old piece, but you are very adept and I like your style. I would like to learn from you.

thanks the samples posted have a bit done just to cut on time, I basically freehand the shapes in illustrator (sometimes eyeballing a sketch, but not really tracing over) and then just go to work from that. No converting or filters, I just draw the shapes and then refine them as I work. The only think I usually pull as a base from other pieces are the eyes to keep them consistent, but even then I usually change them around a bit with the next piece.

You're on mac or not?
If you're not on mac, i think you should use a different way/application to make tutorials!
A gif is fine too, but there are really more powerful ways to make an animated tutorial, say, in flash, with whistles and bells like written comments, more effective watermarking, and so on (but it will take a load of more time too)
If you can work off a mac, i can give some tips.
Drop me a note anytime, but think that i take a load of time to answer (i'm a little busy lately! )
Of course, bid payment are different, business is business, i swear!

this is a very old image from 2 years ago, and was more of a step by step than an actual tutorial since it does not explain anything. Because of time issues, I have never done a full tutorial on DA~ only some process sharing and a video of me working that is on youtube sadly I dont really have the time to make anymore right now because of projects and such, but when I do again it will be a video tutorial on youtube like my last one.

Ok! Anyway, if you need to make a detailed tutorial, fell free to ask.
You can record a sketch of your tutorial with an application called wink [link] and let me postproduce if you like/want.
Free of charge, of course!
Consider it as a little help on supporting you!

I love this, I appreciate all the little detail you put it, it takes me ages to do lips let alone hair blowing in the wind. It really is gorgeous. It reminds me of Miss Bloom. She's the sort of mascot for an Australian based make-up company. Very pretty and femine. If you could give me some tips on how to make such perfect eyes and lips I'd be very appreciative.

hm... i never seen anyone work like you actually.. for exampel .. first making a simpel hand then you start draging in the vector points to form a more complex arm?

this is more if my work process then versions, although I do tend to go back and make corrections after the image has been posted up on DA for a bit~ guess its just a habit from having to do it as art school for so long after class crits, lol.
