What lens are you using? Brokeh is fine, but focusing seems off. I had a lens, that was back focusing until I corrected it.

18-55mm default kit lens that came with the D3300. It annoys me how the top of the flower is out of focus while everything is is perfect. I'll never get this opportunity again with the 2 plants side by side. -_- Also, I should mention how I was using auto-focus and it looked fine through the viewfinder. And finally, this was among the first ever pictures that I've ever snapped with a DSLR. This is my first camera, about 11 months old right now, turning 1 year old next month.

The kit lens is tough to work with it. My 2 favorite lens's for macro photography is the Sigma Art 135 1.8, sigma art 50mm 1.4. Depth of field is crazy shallow on the 135. You would love it for nature pics.
