“Aaaahhh!!! Dang it Vogel, why do you always wake me the days I get to sleep in!”

The bird picks at the tiny blanket.

“Yes yes, I know you think I overstayed my welcome, but it wasn’t my fault I was shrunk. I do appreciate you carrying me away from the jerk that did shrink me, but what am I to do?”

*squawk* The bird almost seemed to be pointing a couple below. They seemed very much in love and were gently greeting a fawn.

“You want me to go with them? How do you know they are good people?” The smell hit her nose at once. “Gesh Vogel, they fed you crackers? What is it, ‘oh you filled my belly so take my shrunken friend.’ I can’t believe you value me no more than a cracker…hey wait!”

The bird plucked up the tiny person in their blanket and lifted her skyward. With a drop they landed in what felt like a hammock. A giant hand encircled them and pulled them out. After some unwrapping there was a gasp and he gently stroked their cheek.

“Oh my…who are you little one?”
The woman pulled out a comb from her purse and began combing the little one’s hair. “Oh John, I don’t know what happened but they may need medical treatment.” The woman looked at her new tiny friend with a love that illuminated her face. “Don’t worry lovey, John and I will take very good care of you and won’t stop until you are home.”

They wouldn’t voice it, but they already felt at home. Vogel really was right about them. They smiled brightly as they were wrapped back up and tucked into her chest pocket for safe keeping.
