Ashley and Jamie had become fast friends after they began taking classes together in aerial gymnastics. Both women dreamed of flying through the air like birds. While it was brutal exercise, both were dedicated to the goal of entertaining crowds.

The two expanded their training regimen outside of class by meeting in the park twice a week for a run. Jamie thought Ashley would be so proud of her when she told her one run day that she had scored a call back with a local circus.

Ashley, having received a rejection from the same interview, was not impressed and felt Jamie was gloating. So she spiked her water with an ancient remedy some of her other friends introduced her to. In small quantities it would foster weight loss. In large quantities, it would have a more immediate effect.

When Jamie asked to take a breather for a pain in her gut, Ashley watched with glee as her former friend shrank. She then began climbing Jamie’s jacket.

Plucking up the tiny gymnast, Ashley smiled and told Jamie that she was hired to perform in Ashley’s flea circus.
