Description
The "Arrow"is the cats' purpose-built ground attacker against the biomechanical Martian Strider.
It was based on an enlarged and modified airframe of the Bog-1M , installed a more powerful 8-cylinder radial engine,2 synchronized autocannons on the cowling and two machineguns wing-mounted,and also has five hardpoints, one under the fuselage for a 50kg incendiary bomb or a drop tank, and four underwing for 15kg bombs or unguided rockets.
The "Arrow" usually operate in a 3-aircrafts squad.when a Strider is spotted, they will dive and strafe its back and legs in turn, that's a relatively safe position to attack a Strider, for the strider's gun pod is side-opened and it takes some times to turn around to face the aircraft.
The "Arrow" were proved to be an effective weapon against the Strider, but they also suffered heavy losses due to Strider fire and Martian Flyers.Althought the "Arrow" are fast at low-altitude,they perform poorly at high altitude for lacking turbo-charger .They are also much less maneuverable, which make them easy targets for Martian Flyers. So it's sorties were usually escorted by cat fighters.
The "Arrow" showed here is painted with a normal green colour scheme like most other cat aircrafts, with red arrows painted on each side of the fuselage, that's a common pratice that applied to ground-attackers.

Yes.The picture here shows a good strafing, but it's still not enough to knock down a Strider.
According to the cats' research on the remains of destroyed Strider, the Strider's carapace is very thick, consisted of 3 layers of structure. The surface is covered by a thick layer of chitinous material, the middle layer is a high elastic bee-hive like structure, and the inner layer is interwoven fiber. The carapace can withstand large amount of damage, and small firearms are totally useless to it.Only large caliber gun loaded with Armour Piercing rounds can make a crack or penetrate it. The Strider also has a complicated skeleton system and bio-mechanical hydraulic system to support it's weight, and it's vital organs are protective by cartilage like plates.
Iit's quite normal that a "Arrow" spent all the ammo on the Strider, but the bullet-riddled Strider still keeps going without being significantly slowed down and still able to fire back. A whole squad of "Arrow" and some "Hammer" self-propelled guns need to cooperate very well(plus some good luck) to bring down a single Strider.

Yes,that's true, but the cat AFV could not be able to get so close. The towering Strider wil simply stomp it or fire a dart at it,that will certainly destroy the AFV.

I'd just submitted the comment when I thougt that a AFV would be destroyed, having to approach very close the Strider.
We have to attend that the cat's tecnology could produce a light bomber lsimilar to the Hawker Typhoon.

Yes,that's an good idea.A light bomber with monstrous firepower like the Typhoon should be useful!
The problem is,the cats were not good at making engines, their aviation engines were always underpowered and problematic, that severely limited the performance of their aircrafts. The "Arrow" is already considered very heavy-armed by cat standard. The cats did have very few airbases, the "Arrow" is still fitted with sturdy unretractable landing gear in order to land on and take off from rough airstrips. So any additional weight will make it very cumbersome.Maybe sometimes later, the cats can have a better solution.
