Let's take the idea step further. One of the ideas being pondered nowadays is the future possibility of uploading an entire human personality as data. What if what we see here isn't a constructed being wanting to be human, but an uploaded personality remembering what it was like-- and wishing for it again?

I love this piece. I adore art that can speak without words. I can really tell whats going through the robot's thoughts. This is amazing!

Much respect and admiration goes to you. I always think I have good ideas and then I go through all these contest things and realize I should think more about what I'm making. Looking at you and everybody else on here help me learn and be critical. Keep up the amazing work and my eyes thank you.

Despite the fact that you can't see the robot/android's face, you can simply imagine how much it wants to be human. The boy's face does just as much speaking for the drawing, though - simply amazing! If I were to be critical, I would've had him/her/it reaching a magazine or something beyond a glass - to represent the barriers - but hey, I don't do art. Nevertheless, amazing.

Whaaw.. but why the little boy have a scared/surprised face ? I don't get it.. is it a kind of taboo in sci-fi ?

Very, very beautiful. I've never really understood that theme in sci fi though.

Robots wanting to experience human equality and emotion.
that's usually the plot in a sci-fi robotics idea.
Also robots taking over the world and thinking humans inferior

I know. Except for that last part I've never really understood the theme.

Robots are considered perfection.
So the story usually is that a Robot becomes self aware and sees itself as perfect because humanity is full of mistakes and keeps repeating the same kind of history and contradicting they're own rules.
that's why they sometimes think themselves superior
also they don't grow old and die.
another perfection that humans don't have.

the theme is just something intimate wanting emotion.
Or
just destroying imperfection (Organic)
*shrug*

I like that while we don't see the face of the robot figure, we really only see just the face of the girl on the magazine. The only "real" Human shown is the boy, whose expression captures the spirit of the message well - is he surprised to see a robot at all, or just one that isn't serving in the military? Maybe he's shocked it wants to read a tabloid? Possibly - and the scenario that plays out in my head - he's not at all shocked by the robot but the figure casting the ominous shadow slightly behind her. Perhaps her captors/handlers have come to call at last. Excellent piece!

This picture really gets you thinking.. If you have a dream, how far from being human are you then really? Beautiful and intelligent piece!

At first I thought: "I can relate. Wanting and wishing to become something you are not". But then I started thinking: "But why would you want to be human? They are such frail creatures. Why not something physically superior? Or at least something less prone to self-destruction"
Overall, I like this piece. But the child confuses me. Why is he confused by her?

I love what you've done here for both perspective and the extra people in the image. It's quite lovely, I like the surprise on the young boy's face.
