Description I wanted to make a cheap/fast way of SSS instead of node setups that exceeded 30 nodes. This is the result.
Many other SSS were complex and difficult to copy and involved the user to download the blend file to append the SSS.
I wanted to make one that was easy to copy in a matter of minutes.

If anyone has a more efficient and smaller design please help.

This made my model's skin all grey? does this not work for all models?

Sorry bout the late reply, this setup is outdated and blenders SSS is way better in terms of performance to accuracy. The SSS node that comes with blender is way better and now supports GPU using the experimental kernal. I made this setup a while back as a cheap way to get SSS to work on gpu but now this is not relevant anymore and is just here to play and experiment with.

Sorry for late response, PC is broke. So this set up was for an older blender version?

Yep, I think I made this around two years back. The current version of blender has a better SSS node that works well on both cpu and gpu renders.

Sorry for the late response, I don't have a shinny skin set up for the current blender version, I've been working with Max, VRay, and UE4 this past year.

There are many better skin shaders than mine that are currently out there.

An awesome example I found is this model with the skin shader already built in with it: www.blendernation.com/2015/09/…

Thanks, so far I have made a few adjustments to it using the glass absorption setup for the SSS. But it seems to act strange in certain lighting situations.
