Description
To my amazement this photo was declined by a group on the basis that it had been edited in some way to make it look unnatural.Β In case anyone else thinks this (I'm baffled why anyone would), there has been no post-processing of any sort, other than perhaps some minor sharpening. This is how blue flowers look, photographed with a narrow depth of field. I rarely do anything to my photos other than some sharpening when needed, and sometimes cropping the image for composition. I do sometimes use high contrast black and white in-camera. The exceptions are very obvious and are generally in the 'surreal' folder. The phrase 'Vorlon Technology' is a reference to the Vorlon 'organic' spacecraft in 'Babylon 5', which these kind of reminded me of.

Blue just isn't a color I generally think of when I think about flowers, even though I know of several varieties that are that color. Guess it's just less common. Really cool photo though! I love how the neutral-ish colored background serves to set off the crazy blue colors of the flowers even more.

It's not easy being blue.
