The "three" main stars of my comic, Gluttony .

This was before I'd decided precisely how their powers worked, so it was more just GLOWY HAND THINGS at this stage

In the story, Private specifically notes that she and Marshal are not superheroes, but they still needed to be indentifiable in terms of design. Even their names - a character may be really interesting, but I find if the name doesn't stand out, they're more easily forgotten. 'Marshal' and 'Private' are, quite obviously, taken from the highest and lowest military ranks - I wanted them to feel like they were juuust below 'superhero' level, and that they were fighting for a cause they believed in.

Size was also a factor. There we have Marshal - tall, broad and strong. The centre of attention. And there, Private - small and closed-off. But sometimes it's the smaller voices that have the biggest impact.

Their outfits are quite simple. Street clothes, but I attempted to give them a subtle military look too. Since a lot of the comic is in stark black and white, they had to have strong silhouettes. The stripe down Private's jacket, and Marshal's buttons and white tank top were what I used to achieve this. (The stripe was further used to identify Private's narration boxes.)

Annnnnnd Man-Eater. Aka frog-Venom. Aka No-Face. It was pretty tricky to get the right look for him. While my main inspirations for the look and feel of the comic were the games InFamous and Prototype - I wanted to be sure the feeding scenes never immediately drew connections to them. I made his eyes small and kept his tongue hidden to avoid direct Venom parallels. Very little white on his body, and hunched over - to contrast with Marshal. There is simply no space for anyone else when he is on the scene.
