Description

As we prepare for the upcoming Champions of the Multiverse tournament at Vipers-Colloseum

Let's meet our charming host!

A lot of things have changed on the island, since the last big tournament.

Let's face it, enough time has passed to properly rebuild ANYTHING over there ... with the exception of the Berlin airport, maybe

( if you get this ... )

Zardonov has been the Colosseum Champion ever since. Bored to death by the lack of credible challengers, the Russian Dragon has taken it upon himself, to seek out competition.

Little did he know, what was about to awaken on the island, he called home.

BIO

Ring Name: Zardonov
Real Name: Vitali Zardonov IV
Age: 40
Height: 6'11"
Hair: Peroxide blonde
Eyes: Light blue
Personal Quote: "If you wanna be great, you gotta beat me ... and NOBODY. EVER. BEAT. ME!"

Background:

Vitali Zardonov IV, called the "Russian Dragon", used to be the greatest Russian MMA fighter of his time. A former multi-time Sambo Champion, Zardonov ruled the MMA world with an iron fist. That was until he decided to get in the face of one Vladimir Shakirov, refusing to play by the mafia man's rules. Shakirov didn't kill him, but decided to teach him a lesson in modesty. He broke Zardonov's career and robbed him of his name and fortune, even forced him to leave Russia all together.
Forced to become an underground fighter to make a living, Zardonov would soon once again make a name for himself. Tearing through the competition, reducing hard men to crying heaps, leaving them in a puddle of blood piss and vomit, he would soon catch the eye of Viper. Entering a tournament, held at her privat island for her own amusement, Zardonov mauled his way to the top, seemingly effortless.

He has been Viper's Pit Fight Champion ever since.

Zardonov is a cold warrior, who barely speaks and seemingly never smiles.

Seeking worthy challengers, he took it upon himself to throw another tournament in Viper's absence. However, something very unexpected would happen:

After the invasion of the DeviantUniverse during the events of OTHERWORLD: Homefront failed and Deathwatch was killed, it seemed her Compression of Time was averted.

It now seems, a cataclysmic event like that doesn't go away without repercussions, though. Remnants of the reality altering threat appeared all over Viper's island, in form of mysterious wormholes.

Zardonov encountered the first of those and was sucked in. When he re-emerged, he was a drastically changed man.

Whatever happened to him, he now sought strength and competition even more than before. He also seemed less human ... more like superhuman, supernatural even.

The king of something, Viper could only ever dream of now, Zardonov only lives for the fight, seeking worthy opponents everywhere in the multiverse, using the power of "his" wormholes.

I imagine Zardonov as this big menacing, yet august being. For some reason, I think WALTER's theme gives off the right vibe: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAEDYa…

Zardonov belongs to me!

Thanks

One of Steel Wolf's fellow countrymen. Wonder if they would get along

Sardonic strikes me as the kind of guy who’d look at how strong Steel Wolf is and either be impressed or insanely jealous. So I could see him wanting to find a way to be as powerful as SW out of envy.

It's "Zardonov" ... and he's not the jealous type

He's not like Viper, he has no god complex. He's a fighter and seeks strength and combat for the thrill and the challenge alone.

If he wasn't the champion, he would tick all the boxes of a roaming world warrior.

I think if he’s basically an honorable fighter, then yeah, he and Steel Wolf would get along just fine. Ypa!

Yeah, he is brutal, but honorable. He seeks strength and glory, but not at all cost.

If he finds someone stronger than himself, he will just have a reason to work harder.

When this character came to be, I first imagined him as a wrestler ( and still use him that way, in an alternate universe ).

He would be a tough one to wrap your head around ( at least for the common WWE fan ), since he was not supposed to be that "foreign menace" type.

He would probably have to be a Tweener

Thank you

Yeah, been working on facial features and expressions a lot.

I feel my character look less rubber-dolly than they used to 8 years ago.

He now reminds me of M. Bison although he is not seeking world domination and M. Bison's theme may not suit Zardonov

He also smiles less than Bison

But you are not off with the Street Fighter reference. While Zardonov as a character was inspired by Ivan Drago, I took some inspiration from Sagat, too.

Character-wise, he's a different animal from all the visual reference material, though.

Scary stuff! (I mean, he was pretty scary before in a sort of 'Dolph Lundgren/Ivan Drago way - and now he's got mysterious extra power from somewhere...) Are any of Viper's other henchmen going to be involved in this? We haven't seen Saskrox for a while!

No, so far I don't plan on using them. The on-island locations will be the same as before ( a location will be named for every bout ), but the lackeys are gone.

Wanna start something new and see where it takes me.

Makes sense that they would stay with Viper too - I was just wondering whether you'd have the 'boss challenges' this time - it was a nice idea but I don't know if it ever happened in the last tournament.

Yeah, some happened ... one went a bit off the rail, though.

And with wormholes as story devices, there certainly whill be "wormhole challenges".

I just need a way of properly building them in ... and it felt a bit much to throw that in people's faces before we even gotten started
