It's better than Planet of the Monsters, but still not GREAT. There are so many cool sci fi ideas being thrown around, but they do so little showing and too much telling. I'm psyched to see King Ghidorah and hopefully Mothra in the concluding movie, though.

Yeah, I would tend to agree, but I actually did like both movies though. The 2nd was a lot better. I really really liked the story of MG making an entire city by himself. Though...it would have been a bit cooler to see a bit of personality with the robot. But I love the idea of losing humanity and becoming one with the monsters...in order to defeat a monster. While the films are not perfect, it's still great to see Toho following a story for once. Instead of just doing a whole bunch of stand alone films like what they did from 2000 and on.
