Description This is a test, just playing with the new IR filter in PSPX. This will probably go in my scraps.

Edited: Ok so I decided not to scrap this. I reworked this using a slightly different shot fo the same scene, this one just has more of the train tracks in the foreground. Hope everyone likes this one better, or the same.

very nice. I'd just do something about that big cloud in the middle -too bright, I'd just leave the 'brightness' on the part over the horizon.

I think for a test version, this is just great... I like the composition of the picture, and the way the tracks lead the viewers eye through the picture. and.... no buts this time

Thank you!

I think I may redo it now that I'm not moving it to scraps, just to make it look as good as possible.

Awesome. I love IR photography.

It figures they added an IR filter to PSPX, I just bought version 9 no more than a month ago. Just my luck...

BrianWolfe In reply to DarknessAndLight [2005-10-01 18:29:43 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, yeah me too.

Haha, yeah I didnt think about letting you know PSPX was due to come out soon when we exchanged pm's until it was too late. The good thing is for people who already have PSP9 you can buy the Upgrade version of X for half the price.

The IR filter is pretty cool, its kinda tricky to get it to really look like IR. With this one I made a duplicate layer of the photo, ran the IR filter on the background layer, then did Blend Mode "Overlay" on the other layer. That seems to work pretty good, though I'm still fooling around with it trying to get a better look. The one thing I dont like is it seems to add a lot of grain, or it just makes noise that is already there stand out.

Great.. because this one is very awesome.. I really REALLY love the mood. I would like to be able to get images like that... It's so .... intense! I don't even have words to describe it. And I can't imagine how you got it like that. Which is saying a LOT because I've been using Photoshop for 14 years and can figure out just about anything (or so I thought!)

BrianWolfe In reply to ZeNeece [2005-10-04 01:23:47 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

Well, Paint Shop Pro X has an IR effect, and so I used that and used a duplicate layer, made a few adjustments and thats it. It wasnt too hard.
