Description
Captain Oliver Hudson has a long and distinguished military career, after he enlisted into the Navy at sixteen (as a way of rebelling against his father, Professor Charles Hudson). Shrewd, decisive and with a keen tactical mind, he is best known as a combat officer, though petitioned hard to be assigned command of the seaQuest, a move that surprised many.
Commander Jonathan “Jon” Ford is an officer whom many have their eye on as he shows great promise and potential. From a poor slum in Chicago, he enrolled into the Navy after witnessing the murder of his older sister by members of the very gang he was a part of—a chapter of his life he is trying hard to put behind him, which is why he has committed himself fully to his career.
Lt. Commander Katherine Hitchcock is a focused and forthright woman, whose technical expertise is without equal. If it wasn’t for her, the seaQuest would never have launched, as she caught a distinct flaw with the boat’s propulsion system during construction. It is due to her intimate knowledge of the sub that she was hand-picked to be her Chief Engineering Officer.
Major Heiko Kimura is the commander of the U.E.O. Marine Detachment onboard, as such she always accompanies missions off of the boat. Steadfast, loyal and honourable, she is a staunch ally to have whilst her plethora of advanced combat skills and training make her a dangerous adversary to face—despite her petite stature.
Lieutenant Nathan “Nate” Bridger is the son of Admiral Robert Bridger, the man who designed the seaQuest , as such he has a lot to live up to. He is the Chief Weapons Officer onboard, though he holds many awards and commendations for his duty as a combat officer, secretly he has always harboured a deep fascination with science—something not many are aware of.
Lieutenant Benjamin “Ben” Krieg serves as the Supply and Logistics Officer onboard, the man who responsible for procuring all essential (and sometimes a few indulgent) supplies for the crew and boat. He is someone who seems to know the “right people” in almost every port to get what is needed, whilst also never giving up much about himself or his past.
Lieutenant (j.g.) MacKenna “Mac” O’Neill* is fluent in seven languages and conversational in fourteen others, which makes her a much sought after Communications Officer. Though a thoroughly trained and certified officer, she is somewhat introverted and shy, rarely willing to put herself forward—as such many miss just how truly gifted she is.
Ensign Lenore “Lonnie” Henderson was born on underwater colony of Atlantis, as such she has seawater in her veins, though is the first of her family to enrol into the Navy. She is inexperienced but eager to learn with a drive and passion that pushes her forward, though may be as much of a hindrance than a help. Onboard the seaQuest she is Navigation Officer and Helmsman.
Master Chief Petty Officer Manilow “Manny” Crocker is a Navy lifer, enlisted as soon as he was able and advanced quickly through hard work and sheer grit. As the Chief of the Boat, he oversees all enlisted personnel as well as seeing to shipboard security. Respected by all aboard, he is dependable and honourable, able and willing to offer support whenever needed.
Chief Petty Officer Miguel Ortiz serves as Sensor Chief aboard and is an expert with electronics. He is known as the joker onboard, able to help lighten the mood when needed, though is equally dedicated to his duty and shipmates. Off-duty he is known to play as hard as he works, being a champion kickboxer and also a very accomplished musician.
Ms Wendy Smith was a last minute addition to the crew, assigned by the Secretary General, her role being that of diplomatic officer and representative for the U.E.O., as such her presence is something the annoys many of the crew—especially Captain Hudson. She is actually part of a U.E.O. experiment into those with a quantifiable “psi-factor” and just how effective they could be in the field.
Doctor Kristin Westphalen M.D. heads up the Medical section, being both a fully qualified physician and surgeon, as well as holding a masters in marine biology. Passionate about her work, she takes it upon herself to speak up for the civilians onboard and won’t let herself be pushed around by the military aspect of the boat or crew—which, unsurprisingly, causes a few headaches.
Doctor Lucas Wolenczak PhD is a prodigy, gaining doctorates in oceanography, marine biology and geophysics by the time he was 20. It is due to his incredible intellect that he was selected to head up the Research department onboard the seaQuest, despite being just 22. He is a contradiction, being both older that his age though also pretty immature at times as well, because he didn’t have a normal childhood and adolescence.

Hm... For me, Bridger has to be Captain of SeaQuest. No one else. He is the best middleman between the Navy-Officers and the science guys, the best of both worlds. Hudson is just another grunt and I liked SeaQuest a lot more, when it still was a show about exploration and not about war. Some of the characters from season one were underused (Hitchcock, Crocker), but all in all, they were a perfect mix. I wish they would have kept them :/

This was just playing about with established characters (either their on screen or in development personas), though I did consider trying out a full reboot and making the crew far more international.
