Description
Quite the thrilling conclusion, eh?Honestly, I wish I could've made this story a little funnier, but it feels so good to finally have this finished and submitted. The jokes are really more cute and quaint than anything and the humor this time really took a backseat to focus on the development of Diago and Baal's relationship way back before Diago managed to escape from this secret, underground laboratory fronted by a friendly corporation selling cute pets to children.
Make of it what you will.

Yeah, I tried to give this comic a slower pace and allow for some more character development.

I'd say it was plenty funny, sir!
It was great to read this and see a bit more of the Diagoo/Baal dynamic in the Β early days. I greatly eenjoyed reading it!

Man, it is rad to see the backstory on Diago. the brother is a real party animal. I mean, he is a laidback dude yet takes shit from no one.

It's a shame I couldn't think of some funnier things for them to do, but I really enjoyed the opportunity of exploring these two characters in their younger years.

Ken-Oh-Sama [2014-01-31 20:15:56 +0000 UTC]
Great set of pages, it was nice to see a little more of Diago's backstory; and his dynamic with Baal was really well done.
As you mentioned the jokes had more of a cute/quaint set up, but I think it helped with the theme of the comic. Diago trying to prove himself as a "rebel" was a funny foreshadowing, and I liked how he labeled himself on the drawing just to make sure the camera was fooled :3
It was great to see the humor go hand in hand with the character development. This is definitively up there with my personal favorite Diago comics; and hopefully we'll see more from his rebellious time at the lab.

Bug-Off In reply to Ken-Oh-Sama [2014-01-31 21:30:42 +0000 UTC]
Well thank you very much.
As I already mentioned in the artist comments, I wanted to touch a little more on the relationship they had in their younger year at the lab so that people could better understand the dynamic that exists between them today. While I've yet to reveal exactly what happened between them and why Baal hates Diago, I think this comic hints at some of the complexities in their story.
Maybe next time I'll show Diago playing with George or the tryst he had with Morgan. Unfortunately, Diago never really knew Jerry or Bree back then.

Love seeing more backstory between Diago and Baal's early life. And the Bio-Pets division is one that I'd like to explore further in a future scene from my Deviant Universe comic one day if you're okay with it.
π: 0 β©: 1
Bug-Off In reply to mja42x [2014-01-31 21:14:58 +0000 UTC]
Oh yeah, about that!
In the past, it was kind of hard integrating the Diago villains into the Deviant Universe because there all revolved around capturing Diago and that didn't leave many opportunities to have them interact with other heroes/villains.
Now I'm thinking that in the wake of the Omega event the BioPets Corporation wants to capture other metahumans so that they can study how their powers work and hopefully create better monsters.

mja42x In reply to Bug-Off [2014-02-01 00:11:39 +0000 UTC]
That sounds like a good idea. I was even thinking about the BioPets coorporation being the ones responsible for the all the anthros running around in the DU. Perhaps they somehow created them with their testing in some way. I'll need to check with DamnedNDelirious to see if he likes that idea as well.
