Didn't mean no offense to the flats artist by not using them, just figured I'd do the colors myself and use my own colors. Chose to color him in the shippuden color scheme because I thought he looked older so it suited him better.
Thought I would try to finish this up and get started on the next battle piece.

Looks like we both prefer the Naruto Shippuden color sceme. Too bad you didn't see the flats I did for this challenge. Could have saved you some time.
Kokokrans is awesome for doing the flats for every challenge. Helps out alot, but I've found I spend less time adjusting the base colors if I do it myself.

aw-ha ..xD Yea I didn't see those flats. Ah well, it was alright because it made it easier to go for a painterly feel while I was working on the different layers. I prefer to keep my colors on different layers so it'd be easier to blend colors more smoothly and go back to clean up the excess afterwards.
Yea, I think doing flats yourself is better for using specific tones and levels of saturation because even color palette is an artistic choice.

Thanks man. Although another artist did bring up a good point adding to the picture and all. The contest is based around who can color the piece best not so much who can add to it? I do appreciate the comment though >.<

This is my favourite so far. I love the palette you used. I've got only one comment that is contradictory in itself: the cracks in the floor look very cool and add a lot to the image, but at the same time, I think it's not really ok to add lineart to the established lineart. It's not fair to the penciler in a way. Sometimes I feel like doing it when I don't really like the lines, but at the same time I try to remember my job is to color, not to draw. All in all, your colors look great.

Thank you, and I agree with you. I feel honored to have such a respectful artist such as you give me feedback, and I loved your battle piece. The lineart did bother me to be honest, but I left it alone. I added the cracks because the empty space really bothered me in terms of how things were laid out composition wise. Although, I think what you said is correct, and I feel that I should be docked points when it comes to judging for that.
