Description Snow monkey in Yudanaka, Nagano. The Snow Monkeys hang out in a hot spring (温泉) to fend off the cold. Because so many people come to this place, the monkeys are generally accustomed to the presence of humans (wielding cameras) and let you get very close. However, they are wild animals and they can come and go as they please. There are no fences or cages to keep them in the area. Only the warmth of the hot spring keeps them here.

Thanks!! It was amazed too. My friends took me to the park and I thought there would be a large separation from the monkeys like in a usual zoo, but nope!

Aww, thats soo cute , I have always loved the pictures from the japanese snow monkeys! It must be great to observe them in reality. In salem there is something a bit similar (a conservation centre for endangered monkeys), but its less spectacular since no bathing is involved

I believe so. Definitely not all monkeys in Japan have access to hot springs. The monkeys live all over the place, but the springs are rare.
