This is the most effort anyone has ever done for anything involving Smurfs season 9, including the people that made season 9! Jokes about how terrible season 9 was aside, I really do love and will defend The Golden Rhino the very end. Everything from the story to the character designs was actually done WELL. For once. I mean some episodes and time periods really suffer with that 'yeesh this has aged badly' or 'the writers absolutely did not research this at all' feeling to it, and most of the villains were just rehashes of the classic ones in periods and settings that did not suit the. But TGR? No no, they knew what they were doing. And the introduction of Prince Bakari? The cherry on top!! It would have been so easy to make some standard throwaway caricature like other season 9 eps had but they didn't!! Bakari is a fleshed out kind, inventive, loyal, compassionate and intelligent character who, despite only getting 1 and a half episodes, genuinely makes me happy. His friendship with Handy is super pure and he's so humble.

Which lead me on to this! I was originally planning on time lapsing a screenshot redraw from 'Clumsy's First Flight' however the composition wasn't really coming to me. So in the end, already being obsessed with TGR at this point, I decided to do a tribute piece to it instead! And I think it worked out well, I'm super interested in rhino's now tho fgdgjhsdfgsd
