Some characters from a new, soon-to-be-online webcomic, Boring. Just the little avatars for the website.

"Henri and Rupert know the sad truth of it all. Despite a seemingly unorthodox and 'adventurous' line of work, they understand the extreme mundanity of their situation. Something is only fascinating when you aren't doing it."

Reading left-to-right one line at a time, the characters are:

HENRI.

Henri hasn't smiled in a rather long time. It is speculated that performing such an action would, after years of happiness atrophy, cause his face to break. Henri is in his 40s, but his left knee is convinced it is in its 90s. Henri is French and he likes good food, but he is insistent that this is not because he is French and that such thoughts are merely cultural stereotypes.

RUPERT.

Rupert is American and young. Rupert is apathetic. Rupert is quite good at what he does, which is good, as he has no ambitions to improve. Rupert sometimes likes barbecuing, and talent shows on television, but he isn't entirely sure why. He blames such things on nostalgia.

LESLIE.

Leslie was married to Henri, once upon a time. Now, she is his superior, and has a daughter... and a husband with a much squarer chin. Leslie knows everything and is equal parts keener, leader and bitch. She is Canadian but can only pretend to be polite, and only pretends to like beer.

PENNY.

Penny likes to giggle at Henri, but it is a very affectionate form of mocking. She is the daughter of Leslie and Bernard, and often accompanies her mom on business trips. She likes girl rock-stars, macaroni, and blissful ignorance.

BERNARD.

Bernard has authority and a full head of hair. He feels that these traits can justify his healthy level of self confidence. Bernard is thankful that his seniority allows him to sit behind a desk most of the day, but enjoys making people think the opposite. He can speak very broken French that he believes to be very fluent French.

ELISE.

Elise is probably the most intelligent person in this comic. No, Elise is the most intelligent person in this comic. She works at a convenience store but is mediocre at operating the cash register. Elise is a childhood friend of Rupert. She is the rare person who excels at baking pies.

JANE.

Jane works in a bookstore. She enjoys reading, but is embarrassed to reveal the fact that she loves watching television more. Jane is writing a novel about a woman writing a novel who doesn't know what to write about. She hopes to one day be printed, but harbours bitterness towards the politics of publishing houses.

( The fact that there are two characters with names found on LOST is entirely coincidental. Seriously, I swear to god. It just sort of happened. In fact, they were named after other people... might as well introduce a character named Smokey now )
