RDR2 has come around. Can't help but think of this. What a beautiful moment.

Song cues in and out with symmetry.Β One of my favorite songs of the game and the soundtrack.Β Still you could tell there was an unrequited love from Bonnie towards John or at least I thought there was even after she learns he's married.Β All the same I was happy that he got to go home even though Dutch's last words to him were pointedly prophetic because they used John to go after the rest of his gang because he was the one they caught and he would do anything to protect his family from the likes of Edgar Ross.
He could have fled with Abigail and Jack yet if he had they would have all been dead.Β Still what follows with Jack is the result of losing his father to government men sent by Edgar Ross and losing his mother to illness after many years.Β I wonder if Jack found something better after he was done with Ross.
I mean John did all that he did so that Jack would not follow the same lifestyle - one can only hope that somewhere along the line that Jack had a better life.
The compass points where he must go to find his way back to her.

Yeah but I also really loved the credits song, it left be speachless.
I also had the feeling that bonnie felt more for hin than just friendship, but thats what I love about this game, the story is absolute not predictable.
At the end the first thing I was thinking was What the hell why don't you go with them? but after thinking about it, they would have chased him and so his family would always be in danger. so he just finished it. By far the saddest ending of a game I have ever seen. I don't think that Jack changes his way after killing Ross, thats what I mean with the story isn't like a hollywood flick. I think he chose the way his father was trying to get him away from.Β

If there's a movie to that it shares some things in common with it would be Unforgiven and maybe as a book goes it would have something in common with No Country for Old Men.
So like you said Jack came into the lifestyle that John didn't want his son getting anywhere near.

A moral compass only points you in the right direction. It does not help you actuallyΒ get there.

I personally thought that John always followed this saying, at least to a degree.

One of the things that made this game so great was how real the characters felt. One of the best games I've ever played.

Agreed. Never thought that the ending would hit me that hard :/
I really enjoed playing it and it was awesome to play the DLC with John again since I am not that much of a Jack-fan haha

The ending was heartbreaking. When I started the game I never though I'd get so attached to John. At least he kinda revives in Undead Nightmare, which was awesome. But yeah, I started a new game just to play as him again since I wasn't very interested in playing as Jack (even though I don't necessarly hate him). He'll never be as cool as his father.

Yeah I also never saw it coming... I thought yay he is back and now the game slowly ends... NO!
I will also start a new game with him, I also don't hate Jack but I just got used to John and I liked his character way more

Yeah, John is definetly better than Jack. I think it was a questionable idea to unexpectedly change the playing character at the end of the game. The players didn't see it coming and they had the whole storyline to get attached to John. I think most fans don't hate Jack himself, but they hate what he represents: a replacement for John, when no one wanted him replaced.
RDR's ending was beautiful and poetic when you consider John's whole backstory, but it was also atrociously sad.

Thats why I never saw this ending coming... I thought hey there has to be a after-story gameplay so they need a main character. Never thought that it would be Jack. I don't hate Jack, I just don't like him that much... as a kid he was pretty annoying at times haha
yeah when you think about Johns motivations the ending is heartbreaking. Never played another game where I got this kind of connection to a character.

That's what makes this game feel so real.
You know that John used to be a criminal; that he robbed and killed people; that he did horrible things. You know it but you don't see it. What you see is himself, not trying to earn forgiveness, but to change himself. I think John figured it was pointless to try and apalogize to his victims and their families, because like he said: "People don't forget. Nothing gets forgiven." I think that instead of trying to do the impossible and "erase" what he had done, he decided to become a better man, to change himself, not the past. He probably saw that the best and most significant opportunity to become a better person was to become a better husband and father. And that something everyone can relate to.

This is one of the moments of RDR that reched unto my soul and turned me into diehard Red Dead fan.
GTA V was just another gta game just like I expected, but RDR... oh gawd, just bring the next one already!

I would love to play another game in the same world. but with other characters. their story is told and it was perfect (:

Well in the end he did what was right, that's all that counts.
I hated the ending so much, but still it is that what makes this game so unique.

As SOON as John was shot god knows how many times I was just
"brb gross sobbing"
Such a great game though <33
