Description I haven't done one of these in AGES. And I'm kinda going through a creative rut, so this is just what the metaphorical doctor ordered.

The first machine is called the IDK 3000 which is an obvious meta joke over the fact that I honestly don't know what this machine is suppose to be for. But I have an idea of where it came from.

You ever played Poppy Playtime? I haven't. But I have seen a lot of aspects of the game to gain some inspiration from it. For example, one major part of the game revolves around the "Make-A-Friend" machine. Which is a large machine that makes the toys in the haunted factory that the game takes place in. A machine that resembles 3 heads with a childish cartoony look to them to fit in the charming kid friendly design the haunted factory once had.

So the M-A-F machine was the inspiration for this machine as well. The problem is, I don't know what I'd use this machine for. Especially since Ruben doesn't really own a toy factory. Or arguably any other kind of factory. It's more of a "jack of all trades" company, if that makes any sense.

Next is a mobile laboratory, built into a suitcase. One that looks like a makeshift laptop, with a keyboard made of a typewriter as I've used before. Along with a part from a candlestick phone. And finally, on the screen, we see the icon of Houseware as a 2D house with a face. This was the original concept for the icon. Because this mobile laptop came from an unfinished sketch I did ay back in 2019 (I assume). The sketch revolved around an old concept of how Ruben and Savannah met. But in all honestly, I'm not gonna use the concept because I'm working on making new story concepts rather than cycling around the same 5 or so story concepts I've been rehashing for what's felt like a decade. Hence the "creative rut" I'm currently in.

Luckily, that rule of not reusing old ideas doesn't apply to inventions. Since one of the whole part of inventions is to redo old ones that didn't work until they do.

Hence the Sonic Sound Shooter: a redesign of an old weapon I drew way back in 2020 during the 2nd ever Gizmo Dump I ever did: www.deviantart.com/cadabra623/…

Back then, it was just called the "Sonic Sound-Off 7000". And it looked a lot different than it does here. Here, it looks like an old timey radio with a trumpet attached to the side. The original looked like a combination of an alarm clock, bullhorn and I think a blow-dryer in the end.

But both weapons do the same thing: shoot out sonic blasts. It just makes more sense, at least for me personally, for a sound based weapon to look like it was made from things that make sound. Sort of like a freeze ray that looks like it was made from an ice cream machine, or a size alteration device made from a microscope. I like to have some sense among the madness, thank you.

Last but not least are some robots I've been meaning to show for a while now. The Hattomatons.

You know, like "Automatons" (which is just a fancy word for "robots") but it's a hat thing? Remember, a major inspiration for my work as the Super Mario Odyssey game. And saying that game had a lot of hats is like saying Baskin Robins has diary products: an understatement.

Anyways, to go back to Ruben's personal business: Brainstormer's is in fact a "jack of all trades" company, where most of the people who work there are robots that Ruben created. And while some of those robots look like Blue's Clues styled sentient objects, others look more humanesque. Hence the Hattomatons.

And speaking of Blue's Clues; if you know me well enough, you'll be unsurprised to learn that I got the inspiration for these robots from that show. Specifically from the last clue of the Rainy Day episode: a marching toy. I don't know why, but that wind up marching solider dude was something I really liked as a kid. I guess I just liked drawing it, since I drew the clues along side Steve and Joe back in the day.

I speak no hyperbole when I say my mother once caught an episode of Blue's Clues airing while we were channel surfing one night, years back when we still had cable, saw the scene of Steve drawing a clue in his notebook, looked at me in the eyes and said "That is literally where you learned to draw, isn't it?".

She was not incorrect.

So I guess the love drawing that clue just evolved into this character: a giant wind-up solider. That, for some reason, has a TV for a head. Because why not?

I tried to do a female and male version of these robots but I'm not 100% satisfied with the design. Guess I'll work on it later on.

So, yeah, here's the latest gizmo dump. As I've said numerous times, I'm going through a lot IRL and I'm trying my best to get back into casual doodling. Mainly because this is my stress relief and part of the reason why my life, for lack of a better word, sucked over the years is because I didn't draw that much. Mainly because of my past here in DA and how some toxic former friends nearly broke me.

Keyword: "nearly". And I'm still doing my best to put myself back together again. Like Humpty Dumpty after he gave up on all the king's horses and men and decided to put matter into his own hands.
