Why not "United We Stand"?

I love this. Whenever I say the Pledge, I always leave out "under God" and people look at me funny. I don't believe in the Christian God, so I'm not required to say this country is watched by him.

We have "In God We Trust" on our money - UK has Darwin on theirs. They teach evolution in the UK, and the only reason evolution is taught in America is because it's on the curriculum. There was a teacher where I went to high school that would just give his students the answers to the evolution test and not even go over the material because he didn't believe in it. It's crazy that America, which used to be the land of forward thinking, has become a center of backward. Sure, we have freedoms that a lot of countries don't have, but slowly we're having them taken away again. This includes freedom from religious discrimination.

The Christian God doesn't belong on our money, in our government, in our schools, in our politics, or in my uterus.

By saying "In God we trust" we're not forcing our religion on anybody. This country was founded on our rights and freedoms given to us by God. We say that because we do trust God.

"Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of religion, nor prohibit the free exercise thereof" means that they did not have a right to do this, no matter what the justification was; and before you get upset, I am a Christian myself.

It's not passing any law, or prohibiting free exercise. You can believe whatever you want in America, no matter what the coin says.

Not everyone believes there is a god at all. And also, "In God We Trust" wasn't put onto money until the 1950's... it has nothing to do with the founding of the country.

I agree with Ben Franklin, instead of "in god we trust," our money should say "mind your business."

It's funny how late it was added too, 1864 on coins and 1957 on paper money.

Glad I live in Britain, cus we've got Charles Darwin on out £10 note ;D

Yes, I've noticed that. You guys win. Ugh, I'd love to live in a more secular country.
Then again... I do enjoy the arguments, I must admit.

You gotta admit though, there are some great things about the USA.

Fairly lax gun restrictions for example! Gotta love the right to keep and bear arms!

This makes me laugh, though I wonder how many people would actually notice that? I mean, I've seen devil horns on George Washington and no one seemed to notice. Or maybe they just didn't care.

Unfortunately, it has been passed as ceremonial deism though often politicians say that removing it would make us a barbaric and atheist state. XD
