Description Hi, I'm still alive. Been doing some traditional mixed media lately. My dapper inventor was done in comic, prismacolor and micron markers. Wanted to create a paper cutout look against digital background.
Background done in photoshop. Still working on color and composition balance. Backgrounds are not my strong point but I think I'm getting better.

Used brushes here   and .

Thanks for your reply, sorry, I am a little late, I don´t come here as often. Try fiddling a bit more with the PS filters to make them a little sharper, if you want to.

A balloon would be cool!

And good luck with your book!

I really like that paper cutout look, and your inventor looks really cute! My brushes that you used look a little blurry, not sure if the problem lies with the brushes themselves (then I need to work on them), or something you did.

The shadow that creates the cutout look IMHO seems a little sharp, I would probably make it a bit softer. I would not cut off his shoulder, and give your inventor a little more space on the background. These are all my personal preferences, though.

Besides that, it is a great piece of art, and it makes me curious to see more of your works!

Thank you for your comment. Your brushes are great. Not blurry at all. I used 3 different filters in photoshop to give then a punch out stamp look. I like to experiment with filters a great deal. As far as the shadow for my cutout guy; you are on to something. I was trying to pay tribute to one of my favorite artist and her Dapper Men comic book series.
Also I wished I drew him more centered myself but got to far along and rolled with it. You know "lets make it work somehow." I might try to balance it out later on with say a steampunk air ballon in the background or such; if I ever revisit it. Keep creating your wonderful brushes. Some day when my children's book gets published; I want to sent you a copy (finding a publisher that's fair is hard).
