I wouldn't know how to advise you on getting the same effect, but I would say - use a rougher surface than paper, something with a little texture, but not too much, because it picks up the chalk better. chalk pastel's a good medium to use, because it can be as soft, and as sharp as you like ^^ also, it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. [=
