Cappitron’s Short-Circuited Rant
====================
If I had to pick a favorite toyline of the Transformers, I’d probably say that it would be the “Classics” line. They’re a pretty fun series where they designed new toys that are an homage to the G1 characters. Let’s see…I bought Astrotrain, Cliffjumper, Grimlock, Jetfire/Skyfire, Mirage, Optimus Prime, Ramjet, and Starscream.
Even Japan knows the concentrated awesomeness of these toys, and have slowly been rereleasing them with paint schemes that are even more of an homage to the G1 characters. To be honest, I haven’t been overly impressed with Japan’s upgraded versions (known as henkei); most of the toys have less detail than the US versions…I LIKED all the product placement decals on Mirage, thank you. There are two, very awesome, very expensive, exemptions though.
Astrotrain is one of two Transformers that can make the color purple look menacing, and when I saw pictures of Astrotrain done up in all his violet glory, I bought that bad boy for about twice the price of my original vanilla version. Don’t get me wrong, I still like my vanilla colored Astrotrain…it’s just…am I the only one that thought that his bullet train form reminded me of a white turd?
The holy grail of the henkei series, which I’m sure any transfan worth his or her eternal-virgin-forevermore-membership-card is fully aware of, is the Megatron recolor. One of the very few classics figures I avoided like the plague, the Classics TechnoTron looked like he was about to drop E and go to a rave with his lime and fuchsia color scheme. The henkei Megatron is a textbook example about how important color can play a role (in jacking up the price). The only place I’ve found that was the least astronomical in extorting the price was ActionHQ’s site, charging around fifty bucks total to get it to your house. But man…this toy is just so worth the price! Megatron looks like Megatron, and is I think the third toy of him that actually transforms into a gun (that makes popping sounds when the trigger’s pulled! Ha!)
Random fun fact: here in the USA, all toy guns have to have this garish orange cap placed on the muzzle of the gun. It’s a safety measure more for police officers, since there are some really real realistic looking toy guns out there. Even TechnoTron, looking more like a huge pez dispenser, had the orange cap. Henkei Megatron doesn’t, and it’ll be interesting to see whether it’ll soon be illegal to sell the toy to American buyers.
The Classics series will continue to get more awesome. The name will be changed to Universe, but with the name change will bring some even more awesome reiterations of classic characters such as Prowl, Sunstreaker, and Galvatron. Heck, any line that could make Powerglide look badass deserves my respect!

The Lowdown On The Download
===================
This picture is more of a celebration of me finally uploading all of my backlogged artwork to this site. I spent a few hours uploading something like twenty drawings. I need some ME art here! Now I can upload this picture to this gallery and my other gallery at the same time. Now on to the description of the inspiration, which I’m sure you’re dying to read.
In looking to satisfy my Transformer addiction, I’ve finally gotten into the Transformer comics published by IDW. Twenty frickin’ bucks for each collection. So far, I’ve purchased: Megatron Origin, Hearts Of Steel, Infiltration, Stormbringer, Escalation, Spotlight Volume One, and the two Generation One volumes from the defunct Dreamwave publisher. I’m waiting for Barnes & Noble to contact me stating they’ve received Spotlight Volume Two. Didja know that if you go up to the helpdesk and ask, Barnes & Noble will just order whatever you want? I wonder if you can order Barnes & Noble to stop charging extortionist prices in their egregious DVD section…?
I’ve yet to sit down and read most of my impulsive buys, save for Megatron Origin and Hearts Of Steel. But when I read the reviews for the Megatron Origin comic, it seemed to be a shallow book, except for
“You get to see what’s under Megatron’s helmet, and it looks cool.”
“Under Megatron’s helmet it looks pretty badass!”
“MEGATRON HAS THE FACE OF A GORGEOUS ARCHANGEL AND MINE EYES WEEP FROM SUCH BEAUTY!!!1!!1121!!”
Well heck, that fanfic-looking last statement had my brain conjuring up all sorts of crazy possibilities as to how there was anything profound under that dong-shaped hat.
Clearly a phallic fallacy!
Sadly, my pessimism held true. When I got to the defining page, it’s just a three panel shot…and his head “blooms” like that dilophosaurus dinosaur in Jurassic Park…sans the spitting acid feature, which would have upped his badassitude. Now that I think of it…he looked like a sunflower. With such a letdown, my mind got to grinding “What exactly WOULD have impressed me?”
THIS is the answer.
Let’s see, anything I haven’t touched on yet? The original title for this piece was ‘Keeping A Cool Head’, but I like the new one, seeing as Seekers are the classification for Starscream and his doppelgangers. Although, I didn’t really specify which seeker this is, so you can decide for yourself whether it’s Starscream, Skywarp, or Thundercracker.
Also, the “KA-DOOSH” sound effect makes a comeback!

So wait, what happens if the Megatron under Megatron's helmet lifts HIS helmet, and the Megatron under that helmet lifts HIS helmet, and so on? Will the universe implode or something?

Hearts of steel was my kinda favourite as it has the insecticons
The only thing I find a bit annoying about the comics sometimes is the long winded scientific wording they must use, but maybe thats just me i'm a simple person I like simple things. And the dramatisism of it all, cor blimey!

I admit it...I really want to buy more transformer action figures...
right now all I have is movie Bumblebee and Barricade.
ironically though, I bought Barricade off ebay.
and my sister still makes fun of me.
she just doesn't understand the awesomeness of action figures! (and I'll keep telling myself that...)

I bought a couple movie toys off Ebay at twice the price, thinking that they weren't being made anymore with the movie long having been released on DVD.
Hasbro then made me a horrible psychic by releasing a deluge of the movie toys, most notable THE ONES I WON. Luckily, those Transformers Animated to be released this month look absolutely awesome!

Fun fact: the Animated toys are supposed to come out in June 20-something, but there've been reports of sneak releases all across the United States. While shopping, I stopped in my local Stockton Wal-Mart--AND LO--there were a few in stock! I nabbed deluxe Ratchet, Bumblebee, Lockdown, Black Arachnia, and the Optimus/Megatron thunderdome combo.
Holy crap I love frowny face Ratchet. And I ripped Lockdown's legs apart in step one of the directions. So snoop around home girl, you may be lucky enough to find some.

yay!
I don't know if i'll get a bunch of those but there are three that I absolutely have to have:
Blitzwing - cause he's a crazy ass mofo.
Blackarachnia - she turns into a spider, I can harass my sister with that.
Maegatron - cause its megaton! there doesn't need to be another reason.

I heard that if you claim to be a fan and don't plan to purchase Blitzwing, Michael Bay will personally blow up your house with $4,000 worth of pyrotechnics.
It's true, you can read it in about. com!
Sadly, the Megatron that's out is the Cybertron metal-hotdog-homage one, that transforms from robot to a piece of plastic crap.
