Description
For him, colors flowed as freelyas the sweet, piercing music that so
stirred his soul to these heights.
The air carried the scents of the seasons
β each lovely in its own way β
just as it held aloft the Gull and the Raven,
both deserving of his love, and receiving,
though they never were wise enough to know.
His life was a tempest he never strove
to tame, an eagle content to soar forever.
And while this tempest battered and bruised,
it never broke. There was an improbable strength
in perceived fragility, in the ephemereal smiles
and fey, dark eyes that could be stirred to tears
simply because a song was beautiful
and he was not.

This is really beautiful I can almost see the colors and the animals soaring through the sky, and hear the music and the rushing of the wind

Vivid imagery is something I try hard to capture in my writing, so it means a lot to me that you felt that way Thank you for the kind words!

I'm not a native English speaker, so I can't judge the form, but the content is reallyΒ peculiarΒ andΒ intense.
The first stanza is sweet and very pleasant (I like the gull and crow thing), while the second one is almost mystical (I don't know if I actually fully understand it XD).
Good work!

Thank you for the wonderful comment! I'd say you're thoughts on the differences between the two stanzas is very insightful and pretty similar to what I was planning when I wrote them.

Iβve probably read this ten times over by now. I think Iβve mentioned that poetry is not really my thing before, but this is definitely an exception. This speaks to me on an emotional level even though I feel I canβt quite wrap my mind around it, which is generally how poetry that I really love makes me feel. This is so beautiful and melancholy at the same time, and I think you should be very proud of it.
Β
Iβm not much of a romantic myself, but I agree on Pachelbelβs Canon. Itβs absolutely gorgeous. π

Yes indeed! I'd like to learn to play it on piano but I have yet to find good sheet music.

Really? I'm surprised. I don't have any real knowledge of playing the piano, but Pachelbel's Canon seems like the sort of song there would be sheet music all over the place for.

Well, to be fair, I haven't been looking very hard. I'm trying to learn some other pieces before I get to it.

Oh, of course! I'm working on If I Can't Love Her from the Broadway version of Beauty & the Beast (www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMXR_4β¦ if you want to listen) and All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera. They're both really beautiful songs. I like musicals, as you can probably tell.

Ah, very nice I've never really seen the Broadway version of Beauty & the Beast before, but I've long been a fan of the music from Phantom of the Opera. Those are both pretty great songs, though.

I haven't seen it either... I found this book of Disney Princess music and that was inside of it, so I decided to learn it because it was so pretty.

Ah, I see That's as good a reason to learn a song as any, if you ask me.
I wish you the best of luck on your future musical journeys!
