Description The Kelvin Class Light Cruiser, is a design by me, and based off of the Kelvin in the "new" Star Trek Movie.

Being in service before the Enterprise, she had to be an interum design. So I placed her design between that of the Baton Rouge era, and that of the Constitution era.

Β Makes sense to me. Maybe this is what she was refitted to in the Prime Timeline.

That was the idea behind it.

I like that you put more thought into a "prime reality" Kelvin, rather than just rearranging the Constitution class components Franz Joseph style.

Well given the time period, it was pre-Constitution era, anyway. So I went with Baton Rouge era components.

I love how many variations can be configured from the old Jeffries starship modules. It's a shame no incarnation of Star Trek has ever been able to show a good amount of them at once.

The same goes for Probert modules. In the Dominion War we should have been treated to a grand diaspora of Galaxy/Nebula variations, portraying the Federation assembly-line christening ships to meet the emergency.

Certainly would have server better than trying to get us to believe that Miranda and Excelsior class vessels remained in service for a century, while the Connie's were retired after 30 years.

Okay, I'll stop rambling. Except to say, that even with 100 year old ships flying around, DS9 was arguably the best 'Trek spin-off.

Hope that meant you liked the ship And I agree with the Miranda. I can sorta understand the Excelsior. But still...Though in defence of some of the Connies being given an early retirement. Some were in service longe before they were of the Constitution Class. I drew these up, a while back. Read the descriptions. [link] [link]

Haw, yes I like the ship. I got so lost in my rambling, I forgot to pay my original compliment.

It's what got me thinking how cool a subtle rearranging of familiar components can be.

I'll, check your links, but I'm a tad confused by what you mean that some of the Connies were in service long before they became Constitution Class.

Do you mean before they were retrofitted with the movie configuration? Like, for example, how the 1701 was 25 years old before its retrofit? (1 5yr tour with Robert April, 3 with Chris Pike,-accounting for Spock's serving on 1701 a full 13 years before serving with James Kirk-- and, of course, 1 legendary tour with JTK.)

Or do you mean that some of the original Constitution Class vessels were ships of another class before being converted. Am I making any sense?

Some were other ship classes first.

I should've just click the links. Everything was answered when I did.

This is all new to me. Both the registry errors, and the retrofits. Where is this all from?

Shame about the Constellation btw. Retrofitted and given a new lease on life only to be kiboshed by a giant wind-sock.
