I love the colours in this shot, the way the strong and warm earthy tones and roughness of the ground contrast with the cooler colours of the sky that blend more softly into eachother. The way the stars appear to be flying across the sky and the strong light on the stones gives the place a very magical atmosphere.

That is phenomenal. It's a place I've visited many times, painted many times - but I've never imagined it like that.

Cathy thank you so much indeed really appreciated. I was lucky, half hour after getting there fog swept in, fell side disappeared and all you could see was the circle! On observational point, should you ever decide to visit it during middle of night, be aware there can often be some shifty people arrive looking to empty the contents of your vehicle!

I took my uncle from New Jersey there one time and, bizarrely, there was an Aztec fire ceremony going on. He didn't bat an eyelid. Probably thought that sort of thing happens on all the time.
Yes, the weather! Changeable, to put it mildly. Still love it, whatever it's doing. Have never been there at night, but I'll bear your warning in mind.

Thank you my friend it's good to read it evoked memories for you, good ones I hope. This night I was back home by about 4pm, but now and again I will stay out all night with camera. Plan places I want to photograph and work my way around the lakes.
