Edit: The 3-page “How to Draw Sonic” tutorial is one of my most popular deviations, despite being a quick thing I did for a school project back in 2005. oh noes, too many quills! I've been drawing sonic for 6 years now and I just recently found out that he only has 6 head spikes

Thank you. The "wrong number of quills" thing has haunted this tutorial for years, but if anyone wants to draw a REALLY on-model interpretation of Sonic, there's other resources and references out there.
I still like the expressions, too. Expressive cartoon characters are pretty important to me.

have you thought of making an extension of this for sonic at a very front view, as if you couldn't see the middle quill?

You're right. Thanks for catching the error. I drew him with nine spikes on the back of his head. Apparently he's supposed to only have seven. I didn't realize that there is only one "top" spike.

lol is just minor error. nobody really knows how many quils he has untill looking at a 3d model. He has six on his head (one on to two on each side and one on the very back) and two on his back
