You know, taking a costuming class or clothing fabrication class can help you with that, but in the end if you really work your way up and earn the pure title of 'clothing designer' then it's your job to draw it (and maybe make...um, I forget what they're called...follow the link [link] and look at the 'different views' for the dress, you'll see one of them is a black and white drawing, that's what I'm referring to. You can do your types of sketches and also draw along those little drawings so a pattern drafter can look at it and do the 'math' in fabricating it)
