Ah I could tell you:
Sunheart is Creekpatch's father, well Sunheart cheated on Creek's mother with a kittpey and that is a big no no in this story. Well that affair ended up producing a kit and Sunheart's children are upset cause he broke their mother's heart and destroyed their family and he betrayed his clan, which he was deputy of.

hmmm well first, it's really important to chose a light source and stick to it because it'll make your drawing look a lot more professional (i've made this mistake so, so many times and i'm trying to pay more attention!)
as mentioned by a previous comment, you should try to stay away from using black when shading - try to shade your drawing based on the colours in your environment. for example, if it's sunset, use warm hues like deep orange and if it's nighttime, use dark blue. it'll make your pictures look a lot more dynamic ;U ;;
also don't be afraid to use many layers when you're shading! I usually do around three, but the more you do, the more detailed your drawings will look ^^

There are so many types of shading indeed :')
The only tip I can personnaly give is to try to not (at least not always) shade in black. A shaded drawing has in my eyes way more style and just looks way better with a more colored shading. But hey, some people do think black shading looks better so it's not an obligation !
Anyway, this is not from Cascading Serenety, but from River Spirit. The shading style is a biit similar so
