Yeah, the HBO series was awesome, and I had quite a few McFarlan toys myself (still have a few). What I thought was so cool about the HBO series was the unique way that they did the stop motion sets -- for example, the cigarette smoke or the cape was done with far more frames on top of the normal anime speed, creating a unusually realistic and hypnotic effect...

of course the amount of graphic fighting that happens is enjoyable to watch, what i liked the most was the amount of pure black they used for shading faces and scenery in the dark ally-ways. i found the tapes at a Dollar store, 3 for a buck, they had boxes of each movie, it was exciting to find them still in plastic wrap but sad they were dumped off in a dollar store...they deserve better aha

You're right about that! Another guy I like for the harsh black shading is Mike Mignola with Hellboy. He boils all of the images down to either color or black, with no in-between that has a great effect. The movies are awesome for sure, but the graphic novels are truly the best (plus, he feeds my English major side with his story choices)

I'VE NEVER LIKED "SPAWN," BECAUSE OF IT'S ASSOCIATION WITH THE DEMONISM AND THE OCCULT. SO I STAY AWAY FROM THE MOVIES AND COMICS; BUT YOU DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB WITH THIS DRAWING. EXCELLENT WORK. IT'S ONE OF THE BETTER SPAWN PIECES I'VE SEEN ON D.A.

I hear you on that. He's fun to draw, but the story was always lacking... If you look at it one way, he's a sinful man in search of redemption, but it's an ill fit...

YEAH, I THINK TOO OFTEN, MOVIES AND COMICS LEAN ON THE OLE HELL AND SATAN CRUTCH.

I agree -- it's too easy and not that creative to me, and gives the wrong idea. Well, he is out there though, but much scarier than how he's made out...
