I understand that stamps are an all-encompassing phenomena, so the subcategories would have to be fairly broad and simple as well. I think the following would be good subcategories
Technology
Animals and Nature Performance Arts (ballet, music, theatre) Visual Arts (photography, painting, sculpture) Sports, Activities, and Games (football, cheerleading, Dungeons and Dragons, sudoku) Other entertainment (manga, television, cartoons, etc) Countries, Landmarks, and Locales (places, basically; possible subcategory for each continent) Personality and Identity (girl gamers, gay pride, religious symbols, zodiac signs) People (with possible subcategories) athletes and celebrities deviantArtists world leadersand, of course,
MiscellaneousThe above are all simply suggestions
If this were implemented, all stamps could be left where they are, and the main "Stamps" category could be closed for further submissions

I just get a little annoyed when I try to search stamps, because there are a lot of games with the same names as books with the same name as movies with the same name as astrological signs with the same name as anime characters... and so on and so on. There's a lot of completely irrelevant overlap that even just a few subcategories could help cut down on.
