Opencanvas/Photoshop7/Painter8 - Aprox. 8 hoursI am super pumped about this painting and Id like to know what you think! I also have another version that has a pen that is following the book, I wasn't sure after I finished if it looked good there or not so I'm gona submit this one for now.. but if you guys wanna see the full version then I'll post it later! I love this piece...kinda reminds me of my journal and the fact that I wish it would kick anyone's ass if they tried to read it...and the way it looks old and used really appeals to me as well...it so cute!!!

Hah, wonderful. Where the mouth is at the bottom..I almost wonder if it should be smaller, as the same size as the two leather binding pieces. Eh, but it looks nice the way it is. Great idea with the double surrealism..and very nice detail.

Tell us about your inspirations?
All the elements are extremely well executed in form and function. Of course, the supernatural element is what makes it interesting and your representation of the idea is unique to me. Looks like a book you'd want to pick up not by the binding, lol.
While I dont know what the missing portions of the painting look like, it would seem including it would help give meaning to the piece as a whole... A book chased by a pen resolves the immediate "what's going on here?" response. Otherwise, it's simply a well executed book posessed. For some that may be fine, but why leave it there when your obvious talent could take it into a richer level of meaning?

Heheh.. I like this kind of comment, thank you for that. I will be posting the whole picture as soon as I make a few minor adjustments. As for the inspiration goes, I was originally going to make this the Necronomicon (book of the dead) from Evil Dead, but I decided after working on it a bit that I wanted to make it something my own. I knew I wanted to make it be alive. Everything else just sort of came together! Thank you again for the comment!
