Yeah. I've really gotta get a tablet. So much more freedom! One of these days. It'll be my next computer investment!

You know... It's funny you should mention that you want to get into metal working... Becaues just yesterday, and that's NO exaggeration, I was talking to another person on DA who ALSO is getting into metal working, so I shall give you the same advice I gave him.

Basically, I got into working with metal before I had any access to any kinds of tools. I had no idea pretty much what I was doing, except for some minor advice from my roommate, who is an electrical engineer. So I was talking with "Pro-Violence" back and forth last night about soldering. Because that's how I got into it. I'm assuming you don't really have access to any heavy duty metalworking equipment? The thread is here [link] There's lots of good information in it. Keep in mind, it's over one page long, so you have to look at both pages.

Depending on whether or not you have any kinds of access to any equipment, or if you'd prefer to work with brazing? I can give you some other advice, but I started out just soldering. If you have any kinds of thoughts on what it is you'd like to create, that can help me guide you... But if you really just want to experiment, this is a great way to start. It's cheap, easily accessible, and can be done at home! It's basically like a kind of tricky hot glue gun. And mig welding is even MORE like a hot glue gun. It's surprisingly easy. But baby steps...
