catnipkitty — A Cheater's Regret

Description What did you expect,
when you followed your
libido into a
forbidden bed,
deceiving the heart
that was already secure
in your back pocket?

Did you think she'd
embrace you as she
did before,
forgive and forget
your lips laced with deceit
like the others before her?

Well, see where that got you:
lying in a cold bed
with your lust draped over you
while your mind wanders
back to memories of her
and falters as you
choke back sobs,
trying to fix the leak
in your tear ducts,
the sensation startlingly
unfamiliar and alien.

At once, you crave all
that she gave you:
a warmth inside your chest
that burns like dry ice
now that she's gone;
but it's too late for
half-assed apologies,
because she's made her peace
and counted to
       1
               2
                       3,
leaving you behind in the dust...

I really like this poem, too. You have a way of psyching the reader out, but very subtly. Sometimes, the "she" could also mean the narrator's thinking about the one he cheated on his lady with, but still with regret. This is just really good!

It's wonderful. I'm so glad that your room mate now understands the theraputic power of writing.

Empower her to do it herself next time! Men are scum, we must rise against, but together as one feminine wave we shall wash the dirt away. Grrr. i really hate cheaters.

Thank you!

My roommie writes from time to time, but she says she's not as good as I am (she hasn't let me read any of her poems though). So she asked me if I could write something to make her feel better.

I hate cheaters too...

You write so beautifully! Even if the subject is not much of a happy one.. I find you capture emotion so well, and for that, I love it!
Regards to your roomie for being in such a situation.
BUT..
Once again, fantastic job!

Thank you!!! I'm glad you like it!

And she's being a real trooper about the whole thing. We've actually been taking oranges from the cafeteria here and smashing them on the ground (we pick the ones that are kinda smushy to begin with) so she can get some of her anger out. It actually works very well!

Lol, I hadn't thought of that idea! I've recently discovered that going to the park (when it's deserted, of course), and just swinging on the swings is a good stress reliever. But whatever works!

And you are welcome! Keep it up!

It's good because you can get you're anger out physically without hurting anyone in the process! And I love swinging on the swings, but sadly, we don't have any around here...

Will do!
