Description
This race knows no boundaries
as it takes all it desires
without foresight, without reason
or cause of action:
Fields are grown, picked, and
burned as time moves past like
a river in the rocky bed of life...

Homes are built from the lives
of wooden giants; we cower
inside of their flesh while
the sap in their veins
drips down their sides in the dark,
the sound evoking memories of dripping faucets
and other modern mechanisms of man...

We squabble and complain,
thinking only of our greedy needs
as clammy fingers grope without sight,
praying they will find some prize and
cling to it, sucking the life
from its fading consciousness
until all that's left is a
shriveled corpse, unable to
feel the pain as scavengers
pick, bite, and gnaw at its
frigid physique...

Mankind, with the potential
to be the greatest of all things,
has forgotten to learn from the past:
forgotten not to fly too close
to the sun and has melted,
just like Icarus, who couldn't
fight the boiling heat of temptation;
we have fallen to our deaths, mere
cinders in the fierce winds
of winter, scattered and lost...
