Unfortunately I can relate to her parents, Spoiled Rich and Filthy Rich, as mine are exactly the same...

Or at least "worst mother of the year". Mr. Rich might be completely unaware what his wife is doing to Diamond Tiara, at this point any assumptions about what and how much he knows about that behavior are entirely speculative.

Diamond's father I feel is a much more reasonable man with better business ethics. Β Her mom on the other hand is an absolute snob who not only looks down on people poorer then herself, she insists they be treated as such. Β So in terms of business relations, she does not succeed well. Β It makes me wonder, was she born wealthy (her name and mark may imply) or was being married to Filthy Rich and the money from that what spoiled her. Β However, as parents can have a pretty big influence, I may bet it's that she was born into a rich and greedy family. Β Kind of reminds me of the Northwests from Gravity Falls. Β So on Diamond's mom, I almost wonder if it was love why she married Filthy Rich, or was it greed? Β It almost feels like Cinderella in this regard with Lady Tremaine. Β So far, I don't know, but it's cool to see why Diamond was as she was and if it wasn't for how her mother raised her, she may have been much nicer.

Yeah, personally I feel Filthy's personality was twisted in this episode. Seeing the actions of Diamond's mother definitely provides some sort of background on her attitude.
Despite this fact I thoroughly enjoyed the character development of Diamond Tiara herself (and pipsqueak that adorable lil pony)

It's nice to see the show develop their secondary characters

Before I saw Diamond Tiara's episode, Gilda's really impressed me as it did so much better at character development then the other villain reforming episodes did. Β I still find Gilda's to be the best overall, but Diamond's was still really well done as well.
