Description
A portrait of Bayaz, First of the Magi, as he's seen in "The Heroes", Joe Abercrombie's fifth book set in the world of "The First Law". Took a more painterly approach to this piece than the last one."The Heroes" is a really great book. A lot of the characters from previous books are back, such as Shivers, Calder, Bremer dan Gorst, and The Dogman. I love how the hints of the larger conflict between Khalul and Bayaz are interspersed. I'm hoping more about their past will be revealed in future books. Both are utter bastards, although Bayaz seems to be slightly less of one when faced with Khalul's megalomania.

I grabbed the Heroes on a whim and was surprised by how good it was. I was expecting a game of thrones rip-off.

Both are bastards... Very powerful bastards set on world domination that are willing to get their way no matter who gets in the way. I do love how some characters thwart their plans without realizing it. Monza Murcato is undoubtedly on both Khalul's and Bayaz's shit list since she declined to join either side at the end of 'Best Served Cold'.
I think I would side with Bayaz though... I really don't care for the Eaters that Khalul raises up to do his bidding.
And speaking of megalomania... (though not really) What do make of Glokta's rise to power with the inquisition and the hints of what he has done to Adua via the Inquisition that are mentioned in 'Red Country'?

I haven't actually read Red Country yet though I see it's on Amazon! Looks like I'll be ordering that right now!
