WEIGELA: The leaves are 5-15 cm long, ovate-oblong with an acuminate tip, and with a serrated margin. The flowers are 2-4 cm long, with a five-lobed white, pink, or red (rarely yellow) corolla, produced in small corymbs of several together in early summer.
"…
I remember
We were walking up to strawberry swing
I can't wait until the morning
Wouldn't wanna change a thing

People moving all the time
Inside a perfectly straight line
Don't you wanna curve away?
When it's such
It's such a perfect day
It's such a perfect day …" -
Strawberry Swing by Coldplay

Beautiful! I had never seen weigela in pink. And somehow I envisioned it differently in a poem I wrote in 1993. Not as pretty as this.

Yes, Claudia, pink Weigela is much harder to find, so when I spotted them in the park I wanted so bad to capture their beautiful PINK color. You are a lady of words, I'm sure the poem you wrote must be wonderful!

How many people do you think look at the picture long enough to actually see them?

What? Not everyone is mesmerized by these beautiful flowers?
Aww, you are a great pal!

Have you seen some of the stuff that is passed off as art? We're lucky people still look at flowers and birds!

Can you be a bit more specific? - give me a few examples, Walt! Why people wouldn't like to see flowers and birds? Nevertheless, I'm just doing what I like and what I can as a hobby!

A lot of Gothic horror and photo manipulations depicting blood and gore. A large number of very poorly done nudes. It's just a hobby for me too and I prefer landscape, birds and flowers.

Ah... that, yeah, Gothic and fan arts are the popular stuff these days... We are probably too old to sympathize with the state of mind of the young generation. They are expressing the futility of life, while we are trying to escape the futility of life.

I really don't look at life as futile. I think I have done quite well and have completed mostly all the goals I set for myself. Life, for me, now is restful and calm; I engage in all the hobbies that relax me and I have the money to spend on frivolous items(lenses, cameras, sports cars, etc.).
These Gothic folk paint and piece together their 'horror' and death in a buffered manner, a fantasy of how things should be. I have seen it up close and personal, there is nothing artistic about it. It's final and you don't look or smell pretty. People start going through regressive changes only moments after death. I won't go any further on that subject, but 'you had to be there'.
