Wow. I read up a couple of things about Tilikum. I'm sure you've already known by now that he's the oldest living orca in captivity, in his 30's.
But, well, one thing, have you heard of the "accidents" they said that happened in Tilikum's pool?

Actually, Lolita at the Miami Seaquarium and Corky II at SeaWorld San Diego are the oldest.Β They're both nearly 50 =3

Whoa! That's pretty old! Well, not too old, but still young, I think. I read that female orcas in the wildΒ die at the age of 100. But there's one orca who's 103 years old, named "Granny".

Granny is lucky. According to NOAA killer whale females live on average to be 50-60. And that's if they make it past adolescence.

Uh-huh. But you do know that the saying "dolphins live up to about 20-30 years in the wild, but they live longer in captivity" is a lie?

Not always.Β Just ask any dolphin that's lived to be 45 in captivity (bottlenose dolphins that is).

Well, I remember when I went swimming with a dolphin on my birthday back in December, her father is 47, I think.

This is a very good resource.Β You'll have to do some math to get ages, but it's a good resource nonetheless.

If I saw Tilikum in person I would simply be in awe.Β
To stand before such a majestic creature. Knowing what he's done.Β
In all of these pictures I see an eerie awareness in the whales' eyes.Β
