Gary and Apple's word balloons in the "Well that sucks" panel are positioned so far from each other that my first reaction was to read Gary's set, and then Apple's set. It's not immediately evident that this is a back-and-forth exchange.

yeah I was aware of that when my brother added the bubbles that way, we had no idea how to fix it so we sorta left it like that, would you help us out here? how could I fix it? c:

I would make sure that each balloon is separated by an adequate stem to emphasize a break in the character's speech (Gary's "like you/ooh, nice burn" are so close that I was prompted to read them as a single sentence) and be sure to create a clear vertical column to your dialogue. Here, Gary and Apple's first sentences both appear at the same height, and so have the same priority.
Positioning might also help. Place the two characters on opposite ends of the panel, and have the speech balloons fill the gap in between. This would emphasize the emotional distance between the characters, while portraying their words as 'thrown out' in a verbal fight.

Looking back, I'm not so sure anymore about positioning word bubbles in between the characters. Β It might be just as effective to have that direct line of contact between the eyes, so you can see the death glares they're shooting.
