Description
You stare at it. It stares at you. You see yourself in the reflection of its eyes, wondering what could possibly be going through its mind. Finally some new art! For some reason I've been lacking motivation to make artwork, but I had a really good weekend and wanted to try to make something. And something happened!

This is great - it looks like it could be concept art from a Metroid Prime game.

Translucency adds up nicely with the base colors too, the composition in the orb area is really gorgeous. Was looking for such flow in forms recently, this is good!

Thank you ^^ I'm glad that you enjoy how it turned out! Though most of my work contains flow and depth like this, so are you saying that I just need to make more stuff?
I've been trying to do something like this for a while, but have been at a dearth of motivation recently...

I think the answer is really always just that; more stuff. This practice keeps the fluidity and doesn't dry you by going very deliberately every time.

Well, there's a balance between forcing yourself to do too much, and doing it for the sake of enjoyment. I prefer art to be fun, and if I'm not getting anything from messing around, then I'll take a break and wait until the next day. For me, there's points where it's significantly easier to work with things -- like, I really feel more capable of manipulating fractals and being creative -- and points where I feel like I'm forcing too many things to happen and hoping something works, but things don't seem to resolve as cleanly. I often build from the unsuccessful stuff later on and can turn it around.
Additionally, as I only can do art in my free time, sometimes I prefer to do gaming with friends for an afternoon or two rather than making artwork...or crash if I'm dead after work...but I still nag myself to try to do something every other day at least. Probably 70% of what I work on never sees the light of day, and out of the remaining 30, 20% of it probably are just previews I pass around in #Aposhack that I neglect when I find something more interesting.

Of course, finding the balance and making more stuff out of it is the aim. It's a significant point to have fun when you're making something.
On a personal part, I always keep trying to have a steady balance and use every bit of it without forcing. And when I feel so, I either stop for a while or look for solutions.
Solutions ranging from different way of working, another technique, new sources of inspiration (new music, new anime, new art sources).

I like how defined the focus is; it allows the surrounding detail to improve the piece, yet not take away from what is being displayed. Lovely job!

Thank you I really am happy with how the "scene" is portrayed and how all the elements work together!

I'm glad you enjoy it that much I personally find the colors immensely satisfying on a level that I can feel, but cannot explain easily with words, and love how the glows, lights, and textures all work together. The wispiness of the blues is just awesome, and the glowy blobs support the lighting of the rest of the scene. There's just something about how it all works that I enjoy, and the colors really just speak to me at the moment...
