Welcome to another of my experiments for 2024! This is the first of 12 short introductions to various species comprising Kaleida's ecosystem.

So, what's going in in this one? The author is Norwust, a member of an alien species called the eborgine (imagine a pangolin had a baby with a rhino and then that creature had a baby with an elephant, and you're more or less there).

Anyway, he obligingly drew a sketch of one of the creatures he's studying (except, not really - artwork's by Ryan Nieto. Stunning work as always, mate!), and then wrote a few details about them.

Then follows a list of other names: many creatures have a number of different names - their Latin name, locals' names, and perhaps informal names. Since the off-worlders' study of these animals (ahem, as is mine) is at such an early stage, Norwust doesn't have any other names for these creatures listed yet.

That's followed by distinguishing features: how a person might describe them to somebody who'd never seen them, at a pinch.

Then he gives us a short introduction to them. Nothing major, just a few notes on features worth knowing.

This sheet will become part of a portfolio of similar pages to help introduce you all (and Kaleida's students!) to Kaleida's ecosystem. Enjoy!
