nice!

btw,
What system(desktop) are you using? Do you mind sharing these theme files? I'm quite interested in your dock theme(if it's a dock... a Cairo Dock?)

thx a lot.

Thanks man!

I'm using Gnome 2x as the Desktop Environment. I'll share the theme when it's complete, it needs some kinks ironed out

The dock is AWN (Avant Window Navigator) with a transparent background and the dock icons i'm using are called 'Push' from Neodesktop [link]

you're welcome.

another noob question if you don't mind:

if you're using awn with a transparent background, then the background image below the dock is actually part of the wallpaper, am i right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharsiBevda In reply to yusiwen [2012-10-20 13:55:32 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry, you can ask anything and everything

Yes, the image below the dock is part of the wallpaper itself. AWN does have the option to 'expand' the dock background to fill the entire bottom part just like the image is currently doing, but it's just my own preference that I integrate it onto the wallpaper itself

confused ( file browser ) : you have two widgets where you can select the view,
you seem to have somekinda coverflow imitation active, yet both those widgets
show you have "icon" view active...... makes no sense. Looks cool tho! Window
widgets?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharsiBevda In reply to Th3R0b [2012-10-20 11:42:47 +0000 UTC]

The other widget is a superflous extra, just something I was experimenting on. If you look below the CoverFlow, in the window, you'll notice the items are indeed in 'icon view'.. makes perfect sense

The CoverFlow is within an embedded window of it's own.

Th3R0b In reply to CharsiBevda [2012-10-20 14:59:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh, right! "I didn't know"... what still
don't make any sense is the obvious coverflow
button there.... if you activate that,
do u then get 2 coverflows instead of a view+
coverflow? Are gnome developers really this dumb?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharsiBevda In reply to Th3R0b [2012-10-20 15:18:21 +0000 UTC]

That CoverFlow button is currently active, it's just unfinished (the button that shows the 'active' state) You wouldn't get 2 CoverFlows, that's the height of stupidity.

Th3R0b In reply to CharsiBevda [2012-10-20 17:57:05 +0000 UTC]

Ic, doesn't look active tho.... well, however,
it's not my problem anyways I don't use gnome lulz.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharsiBevda In reply to Th3R0b [2012-10-20 17:59:08 +0000 UTC]

It's unfinished as I told you, by default there's no 'CoverFlow' button because this is a patched Nautilus

I've yet to create some buttons.

Th3R0b In reply to CharsiBevda [2012-10-20 18:07:04 +0000 UTC]

Oh Ic... so you've written that thing on
the toolbar yourself.... that explains it

Good luck with it! I'm sure it will be more
sane in the next screen.

what are you writing in then? vala?
...from what I've hear the gnome apps
are nowadays written in that weird language. :-S

CharsiBevda In reply to Th3R0b [2012-10-20 19:28:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I have some familarity with C# (was a subject in my college semester ) so that's why the preference for Vala

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Th3R0b In reply to CharsiBevda [2012-10-20 21:08:14 +0000 UTC]

Oh ic... C# is windows only right? I didn't
know vala had any resemblance to C#.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharsiBevda In reply to Th3R0b [2012-10-20 21:19:17 +0000 UTC]

C# is windows only, Vala is similar syntax wise... so if one is familiar with C# then the learning curve is less steep.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Th3R0b In reply to CharsiBevda [2012-10-20 21:38:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... it's weird, it has some built-in compiler
of some sort that generates C code via the
GObject system somehow.... Well, I hope you
enjoy coding in it

CharsiBevda In reply to Th3R0b [2012-10-20 21:56:37 +0000 UTC]

May I ask one thing, how do you get the dolphin can display cover flow?

CharsiBevda In reply to cahyadid79 [2012-10-20 06:50:28 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man

This is Nautilus Elementary though, not Dolphin and it can display CoverFlow (Clutter) with a few simple tweaks.

your'e welcome my friend.

it's just too bad. because Nautilus Elementary can't installed on ubuntu 12.10...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CharsiBevda In reply to cahyadid79 [2012-10-20 08:35:15 +0000 UTC]

Yeah

That's what I call change for the sake of change. There's no reason really as to why it can't be installed, just that the powers to be decided you wouldn't be needing a patched Nautilus anymore. This is just one example, there are tons of others...

CharsiBevda In reply to cahyadid79 [2012-10-20 09:39:23 +0000 UTC]

They must've not updated it for 12.10.... if you're comfortable, you can even compile from source

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cahyadid79 In reply to CharsiBevda [2012-10-20 09:53:22 +0000 UTC]

I am trying to compile it from source, but I found some error messages when compiling. It seems there are some packages have to be installed, and I hope I don't crashed my computer

CharsiBevda In reply to cahyadid79 [2012-10-20 11:38:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, there may be some dependencies you need to install. Install it via Synaptic so that you'll get to see if there are any clashes or whether it breaks anything.
