My half of the Art Trade between me andLong time ago we discussed to draw our characters facing off each other. And well, this is the result of it.
This took a LONG time for me to do. Mainly due to procrastination, being extremely lazy, and not wanting to paint in the background.
The setting is supposed to be in Chaser's homeland. As of now this is sorta of a basic concept of how his area looks (and right now they are fighting near the edge of the city)

Time taken: Possibly around 30+ hrs.
Tools used: Photoshop CS5 and Sai.
Number of layers used: 70+

Dude, this is totally one of the most amazing and EPIC battle scenes I have ever seen! I give you loads of props, dude! The background and foreground are amazingly forged, and the the characters' powers are to die for! Keep up the great work, dude! ^^

Dude, this is totally kick-tail. :b It's been overly too long since seeing this much of a fleshed out composition coming from you.
But boy, you certainly haven't lost your extraordinary touch at all. In fact, with time it's actually progressed enough to become considerably stronger than the last time you worked this hard. I love the colors and the fact you can create such awesome textures and depth just by using a couple of different strokes of lines really says a lot about what you can do with the simplest of tools. I love the background especially, and the clouds look particularly cool from a distance. And of course, you got the rockin' action going on...which is my favorite part of all of this vibrant piece.

If there's one thing you're always been outrageously good at its particle effects, Those flames, dat wing, dat arm! This whole scene is like the monologue chaser gives before fighting. Badass bro. bad-ass.

lol yeah particle effects are often fun for me to do.
For the fire, I did all of it by hand (meaning I didn't use any custom brushes, only default ones) along with the wing too.
As for the arm all I did was added motion blur to it and placed a texture around the arm so it looked like it was emitting a dark energy.
