Description
This is meant to take you through each step of how I make my comics. I hope it helps!
Special note! I ALWAYS ink everything by hand on paper first! Inking on the computer takes way too long and is a skill I am still developing. But I don't think I will ever ink everything on the computer. I like the feel of paper way too much to abandon it.Original Page: [link]

I'm having trouble creating the shadows. I use the magic tool but it selects the entirety of the face rather than the selected areas I would like too create shadows. Is there anything you can recommend?

There are two ways to do shadows on the face, you can either draw it in with the darker color while the area is selected, or you can use the lasso tool and fill it in with the paint bucket. Lasso tool is quicker.

You did a really great job; I have such problems doing anything art-related on my computer(I end up using tutorials for reference 99.99% of the time).
Do you do a lot of inking by hand? If so what are your favorite pen/marker/pencil/whatever brand to use?

I use a 5 point rollerball pen. I forget the name of the brand though.

You can use any pen that doesn't bleed or smudge when you erase. But I use Precise V5 Rolling Ball, Extra Fine PILOT pen. You can find them at Office Max or any supply store like Wallmart.

I want to make a little Manga for my OCs, i read in the comments you use photoshop, but the only photoshop i can find has to do with changing peoples eye from red to blue ib pictures..., can you say whats it's actually called, and if it costs anything...

Just get the new version of photoshop, mine's about 4 years old. But make sure you have a pentablet! It makes the process a whole lot easier.

You don't need it though. You can do everything by hand and just keep it black and white like normal manga pages. Thats what I did for a Naruto doujin that I never finished. Its currently in my scraps.

Thats way back when I had a bad scanner. Now my scans are nice and pristine. ^^
I think your art is just fine, but if you start doing a comic, by pg10 I guarantee you'll see a difference in your skill.

Its not really that im annoyed about, its making it look good after i scanned it, last time i scanned something, I ended up seeing every little dent in the paper x5, plus that will be a very annoying fix with paint <.<

You don't have to fix it with paint. Just increase the lighting and contrast.

lmao, the wonderful thing about tiggers, are tiggers are wonderful thing, there tops are made out of rubber there bottoms are made out of spring, bouncey, bouncey, bouncey, fun fun fun fun fun, the wonderful thing about tiggers is im the only one.....I'M THE ONLY ONE!<.<, now that thats out of my sistem..., lol,......i think ill just go back to reading comics....

lol, hey, what do you thinks gona happen at the end of bleach, i meen just now unahona said ichigo is the only captain level who hasent seen aizen's shikai...., i kinda see aizen killing ichigo orihimi doesn't feel right, zaraki and byakuya just killing off yammy, then mayuri and nemu telling byakuya to grab the girl and nel, I see them coming out of the garganta just as ichigos falling to the ground with a small piece of his new mask, I think nel will use "supa sped" and will catapolt over to ichigo, with orihime holding on , an tell him not to die, then I see her starting to put up the rejection shield, and saying she loves him, then, boom ichigo sits up braking the shun shun rikka's healing shield into pieces, he looks over at orihime and smiles, and says sorry... next I see him looking over at aizen and doing something crazy like, donning a black mask, or his zanpakuto is white, then him moving at like sonic speeds and easily makes aizen realese bankai....and thats as far as iv've thought

oops, a Pilot pen. You can get it at Walmart or any OfficeMax store. Target too.

Pilot pens are best for the outlines and facial details. sharpies are better for filling it in.

I'm still trying to work out if you're talking about inking in photoshop or by hand: it doesn't say.
I've tried more or less what you're describing here. Every time i try, photoshop refuses to fill closer than about 6 pixels to the lines. Hence why i've given up on the whole 'drawing' and 'manga' things altogether...
Interesting to see part of your work process though.

You can still make black/white comics by drawing it all on paper. Don't have to use the computer for anything except Text if thats what is best for you. You might also have an older version of Photoshop. The coloring options for those tend to be much more tedious

CS3...no matter what i try, i can't get either of the scanners i have access to to not leave a halo around the lines [i can clean it up but that takes even longer than just painting in the extra pixels]
As i said, i've switched to full digital lineless, though that means that i'm still unable to draw manga, which along with cosplay, is where the praise is at

Mine leaves a halo around the lines too. But I shrink them so much no one notices.
