Description Finally (Dave Strider x Reader)

You and Dave Strider had known each other for a while. You were very close friends with him. Well, as close of friends as you could be when you had never seen what he looked like or met him and he lived hundreds of miles away from you. You had gained his acquaintance by chance one day when you accidentally sent him a message through a chat app called Pesterchum.

~Flashback~

"You have GOT to be kidding me...." You exclaimed in mild anger as you stared at the empty refrigerated shelf in front of you.

You had been sitting in your apartment when you suddenly had a craving for your favorite drink: apple juice. You had gotten up from your comfy spot on the couch to get some from your usual stock in the refrigerator. It was winter where you lived, and it was snowing outside. You had been bundled up in blankets on the couch, watching Netflix as you tried to keep warm.

Unfortunately, when you opened the refrigerator, your stock was completely gone. You immediately thought to blame your twin brother, who came over to your small apartment to bother you. Very often. And he also had a taste for your favorite drink, which meant that every time he came over, you had to spare more and more of the aj stock you had been investing in.

You had sighed, closing your refrigerator and walking over to the small closet next to the entrance of your apartment. You opened it to find your supply of jackets and slipped on a fluffy, (color) jacket.

You had hesitated before exiting your small dwelling, taking a moment to look wistfully around it. The walls were all painted beige. Around the corner, to your left, was the kitchen. It consisted of the usual. Your refrigerator, the oven and stove top, the sink, a couple of counters, and a couple of cabinets. You didn't have a pantry. On your right, there was an opening that led straight to the living room, which was only illuminated by the light from your flat screen TV. That was basically where you lived. You had a bedroom and a bathroom in a hallway past that, but you rarely used the bedroom. It was like extra storage for you, not that you had many possessions, anyway.

You sighed in sadness at having to leave your apartment and opened the front door. Thankfully, it wasn't snowing. That would've made things so much worse, but you wouldn't have cared anyway. It was aj you were talking about. You would do anything to have some.

So you left and decided to endure the snowy trek to the convenient store which was ironically convenient, considering the fact that it was just down the road from where you lived. You walked in, shivering. It seemed your fluffy jacket did absolutely nothing to protect you from the bitterly cold wind outside. You already felt terrible and wanted nothing more than to grab your aj and go back home so you could be warm again.

But your life hated your guts, so when you made your way down the refrigerated beverage isle, guess what was no where to be found? F*****G AJ. You were so angry, but managed to control yourself, asking one of the employees where the apple juice was being stored. Apparently, they ran out. You about lost it when he suggested orange juice. Like, what?! No!!! Never say that again!!!

So basically, you had to walk all the way back home with orange juice. It was nothing but disappointment. Orange juice was like a child in a strict family who made nothing but straight Fs. COMPLETE. AND. UTTER. DISAPPOINTMENT.

In your rage, you stumbled over to your laptop and decided to open your Pesterchum app and pester your best friend who just so happened to have the abbreviated chumhandle of 'TG.' Let's just say you made a fortunate mistake.

-CH [chumHandle] has begun pestering TG [turntechGodhead]-

CH: hey.

CH: im really upset, so you need to comfort me like the nice yet narcissistic best friend that you are.

CH: i went to the store to get some aj, you know?

CH: and.....

CH: they ran out of freaking apple juice!!!!

CH: i had to settle for ORANGE JUICE, godd*mmit!!!!

CH: talk about the disappointment of the century....

TG:.......

Wait a second. Why wasn't your best friend automatically freaking out like you knew they normally did? You checked the chumhandle you were pestering.

CH: ....oh my god.

CH: i am an idiot....

CH: i am so so sorry....

CH: wrong person....

TG: well i mean i dont really care

TG: and anyway that sounds like a hella bad thing to happen

TG: you need to contact the president right away

TG: thats what id do if my local store ran out of aj

TG: id be like you need to take care of this sh*t right the f*** away

TG: worlds will be endin if you dont

TG: no f*** that the entire universe is screwed

TG: we're all done for

TG: and no amount of bad presidential campaigning is gonna fix that

CH:......

CH: you know what?

TG: unfortunately not

CH: youre pretty cool. you actually managed to cheer me up.

TG: d*mn

TG: im genuinely sorry bout that

TG: and anyway i know im cool

TG: im the f*****g coolest person you know now

TG: congrats

TG: you just unlocked the best f*****g achievement in your entire life

CH: i gotta remember to put that trophy up as soon as i get it.

~End of Flashback!~

The conversation just continued in that manner until it was very late and you had to go or else you would have fallen asleep on the keyboard. The next day you blamed him for ruining your Netflix marathon and yet another conversation got started. You began talking to him on a regular basis, to the point where things got weird if you DIDN'T talk to him. To the point that you actually began to have a crush on him. You found his personality to be attractive, no matter what he looked like. You liked him.

It was summer, and you were miserable yet again. You lived in a very peculiar area. Summers were blistering. Winters felt like the f*****g Ice Age all over again. Spring and Fall were the only times of the year when the weather was perfect. So believe me when I tell you that you were miserable. Not only was it summer, but the AC in your small apartment decided it would be an absolutely spectacular time to break down. Apparently, the AC company was having issues with tons of their appliances, so it would probably take centuries until they got around to getting you a new one. There was NO WAY IN H*LL that you were going to have that piece of sh*t fixed. Amidst all of that, your beloved brother thought it would be nice to visit his dear sister. You had spent the last couple of hours sitting in uncomfortable heat while listening to your brother talk. You were terribly hot (in more ways than one~), even though you were wearing a (f/c) tank-top and short shorts. In other words, it was like Hell decided to pay you a little visit. Oh, the joy.

"BYYYYYYEEEEE, (Y/N)~!!!!! See ya next time I decide to drop by~!" Your brother sang as he opened your front door, just about to leave.

"Please.... Get hit by a car or something..... I promise I'll visit your grave site every once in a while....." You pleaded, your (e/c) eyes practically begging. He chuckled.

"Sorry, no can do, sis. Oh, and, (y/n)~?" He asked, a mischievous tone in his voice. Your eye twitched and you raked your (h/c) hair away from your sweat-dampened neck.

"What is it, brother dear~?" You asked in a mockingly-sweet voice. You gave him a dull look to emphasize your ability to not give a f**k. He grinned.

"I drank all of your aj~!" He sang as he ran out of your door as fast as he could. Your (e/c) eyes widened in rage and you jumped up.

"WHAT?!?!?!" You screeched and a fiery aura surrounded your enraged form.

"(B/N)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU B*****D!!!!!!!!" You yelled, running out after him, but he was already half-way down the driveway from your apartment. You cursed under your breath and ran a hand through your (h/l), (h/c) hair as he sped down the road and away from your wrath. 'Next time I see him, godd*mmit.... Next time I see him....' You trailed off in your mind. Funny, how you had been thinking about getting a nice, cool glass of aj after he left.... He always knew how to get on your nerves. Always. It never failed.

Dave had also become your ranting buddy. Any time anything went wrong, Dave was the first person you messaged. You knew you could count on him to make you feel better, even though half of the stuff he sent you was complete bullsh*t. You pulled out your phone and opened your Pesterchum app.

- CH [chumHandle] has begun pestering TG [turntechGodhead] -

CH: dave. its an emergency.

CH: seriously, im telling you, its like you said. its the END OF THE F****G WORLD!!!

TG: yo calm it (y/n)

TG: what do i need to tell the president this time

TG: holy sh*t its a f****g meteor isnt it

TG: sh*t

CH: dave....

TG: i cant believe this

CH: dave!!!

TG: man what are we gonna do, (y/n)

TG: this really is serious

CH: DAVE!!!!!

TG: what

CH: its not a meteor.

TG: ..... godd*mmit.....

CH: why are you disappointed?!

CH: but anyway...

CH: never mind that.

CH: (b/n) did it again.

TG: oh my god

TG: he did

TG: that lil sh*t

TG: d*mn

CH: yeah.... i gotta go get more and the sun decided today would be a great day to set the world on fire.

CH: i could die, dave.

CH: i just wanted to say my goodbyes.

TG: holy sh*t (y/n)

TG: no youre not allowed to go now

TG: who else am i supposed to talk to if you die

TG: well someone else whos slightly less lame than the rest of the human population anyway

CH: look, i know im fabulous and amazing...

CH: and that if i died you would be heartbroken, because who wouldn't be, right?

CH: but, i must do this.

CH: the world depends on it.

CH: im sorry dave.

TG: god no

TG: don't you dare

TG: (y/n)

- CH [chumHandle] has ceased pestering TG [turntechGodhead] -

You took one last look at the screen of your phone before grinning and walking down the sidewalk that would ultimately lead to your doom. By the time you got to the convenient store, you were sweating like crazy and panting. Just think about what would have happened to you if the convenient store was further away.....

You sighed in relief, the blissfully cool air surrounding your heated body as you stepped into the store. You smiled and pulled your (h/c) hair up into an elastic band, trying to keep it off of the back of your neck. You wiped the sweat from your forehead as you walked casually through the store to the refrigerated beverage isle. Now, if there was one thing you could say about the town you lived in, it was that it was relatively small. Everyone knew who everyone was, which was more of a curse than a blessing. The only thing it was good for was spotting new people. You weren't shy, and you liked greeting people that you had never seen before.

So, when a guy that you had never seen before was standing in the same isle as you, you were bound to talk to him. He was a good couple of feet away from you and he looked to be about your age. He was undeniably attractive, although you couldn't see his eyes. He was wearing silver-rimmed sunglasses with thick black lenses. His pale blonde hair framed his face quite nicely, and it all complimented his outfit nicely. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a broken record logo imprinted on the front, along with black skinny-jeans and red converse sneakers. He seemed to be a good bit taller than you and of an average build. He was downright sexy. Attractive people didn't phase you, however, so there was no blushing or fawning over his looks. You walked up to him casually.

"Hey, are you visiting here, or did you move here, or what?" You asked and he averted his attention away from what he was looking at and over at you.

"Nah, I'm just visiting. How'd you know?" He asked, seemingly comfortable with the way you approached him. His voice wasn't particularly deep, but there was a boyish quality to his tone, as well as a slight twinge of an accent. It sounded like he was from somewhere in the southern U.S. You shrugged.

"I know everyone here. This town isn't exactly the biggest." You explained and turned away from him to look at what he had been pondering over buying. 'Ah! Just the thing I'm looking for!' You thought in happiness.

"Oh, yeah, I guess." He replied and turned back to look at the apple juice behind the glass. You opened the glass door to retrieve multiple bottles of aj. You sent the boy a glance.

"You gonna get some?" You asked and his lips turned upwards a bit in a slight smirk.

"Yeah. You're getting quite a bit, huh?" He asked and you immediately understood the unasked question.

"Ah, yeah. This should last me until I officially go shopping this week to restock my stash." You replied. He raised a blonde eyebrow.

"Oh really?" He asked, his tone suggesting that he wanted to know more.

"Yeah, well, my lovely brother came over today. He and I are twins so, we have most of the same tastes. I usually keep a stockpile of aj in my refrigerator, but he somehow manages to drink all of it when he comes over. I think he does it just to tease me. But d*mn, I hate it when he does that. Especially on days like this." You ranted as he grabbed a bottle for himself. He flinched as you began talking of your brother and how he drank all of your aj. It wasn't something that was noticeable, but you were very good at observing. He slowly raised his gaze to look at you and the both of you began walking towards the check-out area. Somehow, even though you couldn't see the look in his eyes, you could tell he was looking at you a bit differently.

"That sucks, man.... What's his name?" He asked after a bit of hesitation. For some reason you detected uncertainty and a slight hopefulness in his tone. You smiled as you looked at him.

"His name is (b/n)." You answered. You didn't notice his lips slightly part in surprise as you turned away to put your items on the conveyor belt so the cashier could ring them up. "What about you, stranger? Do you have any siblings?" You asked, turning the conversation away from yourself. He rubbed his neck in an embarrassed fashion, but his expression was still blank.

"Yeah, I got Bro, my older brother. I don't talk to him much. To be honest we communicate through various forms of undecipherable symbolism, high levels of irony, and a lot of pointless strife. He leaves his sh*t all over the d*mn place, but I guess I don't really mind. His puppets and sh*tty Japanese weapons are pretty cool, I guess." He answered and explained his brother. Somehow, this guy was becoming more and more familiar to you. His language use sounded like someone you knew... Plus, this 'Bro' sounded familiar as well. 'He.... He sounds like..... He reminds me of.....' You thought and then your (e/c) eyes suddenly widened. 'He's an awful lot like Dave....' You thought in realization and glanced at him. The cashier began ringing up your apple juice bottles. You immediately shook your head, but the thought wouldn't leave. 'Well, I suppose there's really only one way to find out...' You thought.

"That's cool.... Hey, can I get your name?" You asked casually. 'Besides, there's no way he's Dave. Dave lives hundreds of miles away. I don't even know what he looks like....' Your thoughts trailed off when he opened his mouth to speak. The boy hesitated and then ran a hand through his blonde hair, looking away from you as the words left his mouth.

"The name's Dave. Dave Strider." He answered. Your (e/c) eyes widened and your jaw went slack. A blush coated your cheeks for the first time since you had encountered him as a stranger. He smirked. "And, I'm just assuming here, you're (y/n) (l/n), right?" He asked and all you could do was nod. The smirk on his face turned into a grin. "Nice to see that you're still alive." He said, chuckling. 'Oh my god....' You thought. 'The guy I've had a crush on for the past 3 years is actually really d*mn hot....' You thought, your blush growing more profuse. All you could think about was how lucky you were. You finished paying for everything and then waited for Dave to pay for his bottle of apple juice, which he didn't hesitate to open and drink out of the second he paid for it. You both walked outside, where the sun was just beginning to go down. It was in the afternoon. Dave looked at you expectantly, but you were still surprised.

"You.... I can't believe.... What are you doing here, Dave?" You asked with burning curiosity in your (e/c) gaze. Dave gave you a mock-pained look, bringing his left hand over his heart.

"(Y/n)... You're not happy to meet me?" He asked, fake-sadness lacing his voice. You rolled your eyes and grinned, finally breaking out of your daze.

"Of course I am, Strider. You know what I mean." You said in an obvious tone. He nodded.

"Yeah, I do. I actually had no idea you lived here. I'm here because I'm supposed to be visiting one of Bro's friends who lives all the way over on the d*mn far side of this island. The side that nobody lives on." He explained. You looked away in thought.

"So it's a coincidence, then..." You said aloud. Dave nodded. There was a moment of silence.

"... (Y/n), can I do something that I've been wanting to do for a while now, even since before just now?" He asked. You looked at him and reluctantly nodded, wondering just what he wanted to do. He smirked.

His arms slowly found their way around your waist and he pulled you against him. Warmth flooded your body from his and you blushed again, your body tensing up as he rested his head on your shoulder.

"D-Dave?!" You asked with an embarrassed stutter. 'H-He's hugging me!!! D*mmit!!!'

"Shhh..." He tried silencing you, not lifting his head and tightening his grip on your body. Your body relaxed but your mind and mouth were still running.

"N-No.... W-Wait, what a-are you d-" You were barely able to force the words out before they were completely cut off.

That was when Dave captured your lips with his soft, warm ones in a long-awaited kiss. After the initial shock of the moment, you melted into the kiss. You wouldn't have known this, but you were both thinking the exact same thing.

'Finally....'

~The End~

I don't usually comment on anything unless I have something to say that hasn't already been addressed haha. First of all, this was a nice fanfiction with a cute ending and accurate portrayal of Dave. But the thing that pissed me off and almost made me put it down was the constant swearing. Now, I know you may not want to tag it with a mature label, but only words like the f bomb should be censored imo. But then again, I swear like a sailor so this is just me. Thanks for a good read though!

(Also can you give me tips on posting consistently? You can send it in a note if you'd prefer. You seem to post at a good pace and I'm a little jealous ouo)

Chibi-Katana In reply to unexpectedAsshole [2015-06-29 20:06:30 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yeah. I'm not allowed to curse, so I don't want anyone to see my stories from my family and me get in trouble for not having words censored. I'd rather keep it the way it is, for the sake of me still being able to write, though I am considering going back and only replacing an asterisk for one letter in each curse word instead of a lot, like I usually do. I'm still young, therefore I'm not allowed to just do anything by my own preference or others' for that matter. That's just my mother's strictness of the situation. To me, those words don't even matter enough to be put in to a story, but that's the way the character's personalities are portrayed, so that's what I had to do. I apologize. Thank you for reading it, though, and for letting me know how you felt! It's greatly appreciated.

As for posting consistently, I'm honestly doing a bang-up job right now. There are stories I haven't updated for a couple of months because I'm trying to finish up this one story so that I can continue them. I didn't have a particular schedule until recently, mostly because I didn't really care too much about being consistent. The only reason I have a partial schedule NOW is because I actually need to organize my time for the summer months. What usually helps me is making journals or having people reminding me that I need to update or post. My audience has to force me to post. Usually, when I'm really into a Β story, I don't waste any time posting immediately, that way I don't forget and the idea is fresh in my mind. I try not to let the story get too boring, either. Because if I'm bored, then I'm not gonna want to write it. Sorry, I don't really have much to offer. I hope that answers your question.

Okay, I very clearly understand that sometimes it's hard to convey tone over the Internet, but the way you worded your comment struck me as rude.

And I admit that at the time, I was on my iPad (and I am still on it at this particular moment), and since I personally prefer to use the website over the app, my keyboard sometimes suddenly disappears (that's the only word I can use to describe it), and it cuts off whatever I was trying to say. I vaguely remember having to go back to the page to redo the comment at least twice because I was still typing for a second after the keyboard disappeared and accidentally tapped the username of another deviant who commented on this work.

What I meant to say in the original comment (which is what I assume you have a problem with and decided to cut in on), was the amount of censoring in the swears presented throughout the story. I am in every way used to hearing and delivering foul language, but when so many curses are censored so many times, it irks me quite a bit and distracts me from the fanfiction itself.

But then again, I am operating under the assumption that your comment was directed to me.

You know it's funny that I actually have a twin brother and live in a place with extremly harsh winters and summers. I guess you could call it...irony.

In all seriousness though this is really well written. You captured Dave's attitude perfectly all the while keeping the reader entertained with a complex yet realistic plot. This may be just because it strikes a coard with me, but I really enjoyed this piece and I think it's one of my favorite Dave X Reader's on DA. Thank you for this.

Haha! That really is ironic. It seems that there are a lot of people who can relate to this particular fan-fiction! That makes me happy.

^///^ Thank you very much.... I see a lot of people who say that Dave can be incredibly hard to write, but to be honest, Dirk is a bit harder. Dirk has more of a complex personality than Dave it seems to me. And maybe I'm only saying that because honestly, there were no touchy-feely moments in this fan-fiction. Nonetheless, I still had a lot of fun writing this, as usual, and I am very glad that you found the plot to be easy to relate to as well as interesting. Thank you!

Ahh, that's adorable! Why can't Homestuck characters be real? Oh yeah... Because the world would go to shit if they did...

I think I would be a secret fangirl. One of the fangirls who takes her name off of all of the fan-fiction she's written but continues to read and write over it and watch them from afar. Like how people write fan-fiction about Supernatural or.... Twilight or...... idek XD someone help me

Ah, that'd be better than my solution. Mine would be to show no interest in them publicly, but when I'm alone fangirl like no tomorrow.

It would tho. You know, some day I want to have a friend that we literally do that kind of stuff together. Like they show up at my house on a whim and we'll binge-read Homestuck and binge-watch Hetalia no matter how long it takes, drinking Faygo and eating pasta XD. Then we'll sit there fan-girling and making fan-art or fan-fiction and laugh at each others' skills. That would be the best friendship ever~ Plus, then we would know both like the back of our hands, so we could just sit there, discussing the plot and their personalities and everything. It would be amazing. *if only it weren't a dream*

Yeah. I want a friendship like that. Sadly, I am the only fangirl in my family and in my class.

Now, so am I. I have other friends but they don't quite get into the fandom like I do. My brother is 9 years older than me and he doesn't really like anime, so there's no hope for me there. My two good friends who were into the same have moved. We never really did stuff like that, though. *Forever alone* Like, ugh, people, GET IN MY FANDOM!!!! But even then, I doubt we would do stuff like that. Sigh. LIIIIFFFFFEEEEEEE.

Yeah... I mean, I have friends that are into anime and stuff, but they don't really watch most of the animes that I watch. ((Is 'animes' even a word? I don't care, now it is.)) Plus, they're in different classes so we don't really have a lot of time to talk to each other. My other friend who was into anime moved and the thing with her was that, she was kinda bossy when it came to me watching anime. She'd give me specific animes to watch and she'd never really let me have my own freedom in discovering what genres I'm into and stuff. But, I guess I kinda have to thank her because she got me into anime in the first place, she got into Hetalia too, so gotta thank her for that. Homestuck-wise...THERE ARE NO HOMESTUCKS IN MY SCHOOL! I mean, there are people who know of it, but never read it and stuff. I have tried to get people into Homestuck, but it never works... They only know ONE character by heart from Homestuck. That character is Dave.

Lol, actually, I think the word anime serves as both plural and singular, but animes is perfectly okay with me! And yeah, I agree with having friends like that... Like, honestly, they get into the same stuff as me, but... They are friends that are kind of different from your average weird friends. One I have known for the longest time, but she enjoys the concept of death and talks about killing people and hating people and what-not. One is into wolves and can be kind of rude and bossy at times, though she can be really fun and nice at the same time. The only other person in our group used to have a crush on me and he acts like a freaking sexist pr*ck all of the time, so... There's another girl who I'm friends with who acts like a best friend and we talk and stuff, but... She's not much into anime even though I showed her SAO and Hetalia which she liked for a while. Not only that, but she's pretty and popular, so we don't hang out much. There's not much I can do to relate to them. I've always felt like that.... Like my experiences have caused me to grow up too fast and I can't relate to people as much as I want to, because most of them are immature and don't understand me, nor even try to. Plus, my writing is my world, and they don't even take a slight interest in my hobbies, though I make an effort to understand theirs. But whatever, y'know? Nothing I can do about it. The friend who got me into anime moved as well and she always suggested stuff to me, but I never really got into them besides Hetalia and Homestuck. Those are the fandoms I'm in to. I love anime and stuff, but those are the two fandoms that I REALLY get in to. And, I feel sorry for you, like, NO HOMESTUCKS WHATSOEVER is just pure Hell for a Homestuck fan. Plus, really, kids? Dave Strider isn't the only freaking guy in Homestuck. I am PROUD to say that I can't seem to commit to having a crush on just one of the Homestuck "male" characters. Ugh

^Wow that's long XD

I'm into a lot of fandoms, some more than others. And just saying, that first friend you mentioned kinda reminds me of well... Me. I really can't go a day without talking about death and hate and stuff.

She goes to the extreme with it. It doesn't really bother me that much, it's just that I myself can't handle talking about dead babies and torture on a regular day-to-day basis. Also about how I want to kill everyone including my friends. Not to mention saying all of that with a serious face, like I mean it. I can handle saying that i hate a particular person and what they do and i can handle talking about death and in fact, I enjoy reading stuff about death, but I just don't like talking about being the CAUSE of someone's death or anything like that. *shrugs* Its just not something I personally like doing, but everyone has their own preferences, so ^^
