Description
I've undertaken a challenge issued by the indominable , wherein I was sent a list of ten words to choose from as inspiration for more Toy Story fanart. I may do a few, or even all of them if I can get an idea.Number three was "Masquerade".
The first thing to pop into my head? "Paper faces on parade".
Yup. Phantom of the Opera. I am a wierdo. (Just to clarify, I mean the movie with Gerard Butler. I've read Gaston Leroux's book too, but I prefer the film. You wanna rag on me for it? Save it for someone who gives a punjab.)
The ideas I got were rather tenuous... It ended up becoming an odd mishmash of POTO and Zorro (and some El Vaquero!Woody.). So instead of Paris, it'd be set in California or something. I don't know. It all just went Spanish Mode in my mind.
So I doodled this.. Jessie as Christine, and Woody as Erik/The Phantom. I think it makes sense; Woody gets angsty about relationships rather easily. And you know Buzz would be Raoul.
I hate to turn the tables on the first pic in, but miss , if this makes you want to draw anything AT ALL, then PLEASE work your magic on this and make it plausible and not completely full of crack like I did. I'm working on the next prompt as we type, so please don't be disappointed in meh. ;^;

I'm a fan of Toy Story and PoTO, and feel as though this embodies both appropriately. It's lovely.

I really like this ^.^ Phantom of the Opera would definitely be the first thing that'd come to my mind at the word "masquerade" too, so this is absolutely awesome
I love how Jessie's trying very hard to resist el vaquero's touch; and gosh that outfit looks perfect on Woody.
I'm very eager to take a look at the rest of the prompt ^^

Holy crap! You turned that out just NOW? I seriously sent you that list just like two hours ago!
This is gorgeous, and god, just terribly, terribly sexy. I love to see people give Jessie proper breasts and embrace her femaleness. Woody's profile here is just... Ugh. The best villains are the ones who really tempt you despite yourself. I feel like one whisper and she's done for, and she knows it. She looks like she's trying so hard to steel her will, but knows she's doomed to melt.
If you should fall into my arms
tremble like a flower...
I'm working on El Vaquero for you right now! God, I know I can't keep up with you at this rate, but it'll be a blast trying.

Ah, I just hope I can live up to your expectations. :> And I know i'm a nutter for uploading an unpolished doodle in the middle of the night (here in Cali), but I was rather anxious to see what you thought. I feel completely lame for dumping the prompt back on you, though.

Did you want me to do the same prompts, or just "masquerade", or do something with Phantom? I'm not sure. And you're not a nutter at all! You're brilliant. Color me way impressed.

I meant the whole spanish flavored (hence the mention of Zorro) Phantom of the Opera/TS thing I described somewhat poorly (*sweats*). Does any of that strike a sensible chord?
OH-- I just thought about the phantom's Red Death costume in the actual 'masquerade' scene from the movie..! If that got glitzed up a bit more (to make Woody look like a matador?) it'd be AWESOME. And the ball would be held at a villa in the spanish countryside (owned by a classy Dona Bo Peep..?)...
I'm giving this a lot more thought than I should. ;;;=_=

Oh my God, I love this idea. C: I've never seen Phantom of the Opera, either movie or play, but it sounds good, and I'm definitely a fan of Zorro. (And I'm fond of Poe's Masque of the Red Death!) Of course, any reason to dress Woody as a torreador is aces with me. ^u^ You ever see the drawing I did of Murdoc Niccals in bullfighter regalia?
I will totally give this my best shot!

D8 > Really, you haven't? I think it's a good film (the songs are my favorite thing about it), definitely worth watching at least once. If you look it up here even, a lot of fanart seems to be for the 2004 movie version (or you could wiki it).
Here's a pic of the phantom's masquerade costume [link]
And I shall have to go searchin' for that Muds pic.
I swear, the mix of Gerard Butler an' Antonio Banderas and Woody swirlin' in my head is starting to break my brain.

Wow, that is a heck of an outfit. So vivid. Damn, I almost made "red" one of your prompts! Oooshhh, that is an awfully nice concoction, I must say.

Gawd, yes. I keep imagining the resulting Vaquero-Phantom to be so sultry and seductive-- Guh. Too much. Seeing Woody that way can still feel so inconcievable sometimes. I'd have to wait and be mezmerized by your rendition to believe it.
So would you intend to watch the movie first, or dive right in to this?

Well, I'll have to order the movie from Netflix, and who knows how long that'll take. I may try to whip something up before then, but I'm eager to see the flick. I do love me some Gerard Butler. And honey, oh. Any excuse to sultrify Woody. ^_^ Take it and RUN, girl.
And all this makes me think how awesome Woody would be as Cyrano de Bergerac. Pricklepants will totally solicit him for a play.

Yeah, POTO was the first thing I saw Gerard in. Add to that 300 and Gamer? Man's got real acting power.
--Oh, and How to Train Your Dragon. I squeed when I realized he was VAing in that. <3
Woody is hard to deny no matter how he's served up. :3 but now I feel a bit uncultured, since all I know about Cyrano De Bergerac is the big nose connotation. *sweats/goes to wiki*

Treat yourself to the movie starring Gerard Depardieu, or read the play, if you like. It's my sister's favorite book, and is just amazing. It soars.
